I just picked up an 02 EP3 a couple weeks ago. I had a CTS-V and got sick of putting gas into it. So far it is a pretty good car. I got started with an oil change, air filter, cabin air filter. Next up is tranny fluid then coolant. The crazy part is the car has 242K miles on it, but it still runs great. I got 30.8 mpg on my last tank of gas! I have not taken it over 5K rpm though in fear of the worse. haha If I get time this weekend I am checking the compression, new spark plugs and check valve adjustment. I am gong to see how many more miles I can put on it before she blows. It is like my own little science experiment. I will try to get some pics up when I get some time.

Speaking of new motors, do most people rebuild their old one or find a used one and just replace it? I didnt know which one would be cheaper.

Most guys just buy Kpro and add a K24a1 if the a3 goes, but you should easily find Base RSX K20a3's and Si K20a3's all day long for $800 or under. If you pay more than that, just get the K24a1 and enjoy the new torque!

I have an 02 with 250+k on the chassis with an a2/z3 and 6 speed tranny amongst other things as well as another 02 with 130k with a JRSC and z1 head upgrade. These cars just go and go and go with nothing more than normal and proper maintenance. Good luck and keep us informed!

P.S. Pics of the Ep3?

I will get some pics this weekend.

Where are you finding these K20A3's for under $800? I am going to do a compression check this weekend. Depending how it looks li might just keep an eye out for a motor and swap it out when I can.

Thanks. I was surprised too. It is also solid as can be. No squeaks, rattles, or anything at all. Only thing was I changed the filters for the A/C and the were pretty bad, but that is the only thing I have found that wasnt really taken care of on the car.
