I finally broke down and bought some new wipers because mine were smearing terribly.
I bought some rain x expensive banana style wiper blades but they are still missing a huge area on each wiper. Anyone know if I can adjust the tension to get them to sit tighter to my windshield so they don't leave me blind from the area that they miss??

I had those and I was really disappointed because they did the same thing to me. I went and bought honda fit wiper blades, they fit perfect and you can buy inserts from honda for $10 whenever you need to replace them. The only thing is they don't clip in all the way on the arms but a tiny dab of glue on the underside fixed that problem, you don't need to take the actual blade off because the rubber inserts slide right out. I suggest you do this

I go through a set, if not more, of whippers each years. Owned Rain-X, Michelin, some no name brand and many different kind of whipper. Didn't had issue with the Rain-X though... Did you get the exact size for our car? I know our model isn't listed in the list when you buy whippers. You could try torquing a little bit your whipper arm so it apply more pressure... I really don't know if it works on our car, never had to do so but did in in my 2 other cars because the arms got loose for forcing to get out of ice :P

I have the same exact issue on my Xterra. I'm running stock size Michelin one-piece wiper blades and there is a spot in the middle of the blade on both where it doesn't make contact with the windshield. It's annoying as hell.

I know it's because the pressure from the arm isn't great enough to fully compress the blade, but I'm not sure there's an easy way to fix it.

If anyone has ideas, I'd love to hear them.

I actually went and screwed with him for like a half hour to get them perfect I flexed on the blades and bent the arms slightly. Work perfect now!

I actually went as far as to replace both wiper arms and come to find out it was the blades the whole time! I got a bad set or Rain X blades so I switched over to the Bosch Icon and I'll never go back!

factory wipers are the best... $3 replacement rubber wins every time!
