my car is throwing camshaft position sensor & misfire 1 2 3 4 codes. it is running like crap and goes dead if you let off the gas. i changed the sensor out and put in new spark plugs, it is still doing the same thing. Anyone have any ideas?

the crankshaft positioning sensor is next to the Cam Angle Sensor... may want to check that as well...

when mine went out... it took me a whole year to figure it out and my car was down. i replaced the wire harness, plugs, and just about everything i could think of before having a shop tell me it was those sensors.

Wait... are we talkin about CAM or CRANK sensors? There are TWO cam sensors... ONE crank sensor. Do you have KPro? If you swap the sensors and clear the codes and they come back (assuming all wiring is up to par)... then you might be lookin at a timing chain replacement.

Oh, and the crank sensor is behind the crank pulley on the passenger side of the car... the cam sensors are on the drivers side of the head between the head and airbox...

There is 2 CAMshaft sensors. An intake and an exhaust cam sensor. But they are the same sensor.

i have changed out both intake and exhaust camshaft sensor. Still the same. i dont have kpro(debating buying it soon) but when you clear the codes the p0341 comes on immediatly when you start the car.

Its hard to know for sure but... it sounds like you jumped timing...

I had the same thing before. Turned out to be my VTC solenoid was clogged. Took it out. Cleaned out and made sure the plunger in the top pushed in and out freely. Put back in. Cleared the codes and ran fine.

yeah it was wierd. The car had been running fine. I only put 16 miles on it a day. I was going to work, started up fine, put it in reverse and backed out of the driveway, put it in 1st and it stalled out. Then it wouldnt start without me tapping the gas and would go dead if you let off. Im gonna try the vtc solenoid this afternoon. I will let you peeps know. Thanks for the help.

ps. told the wifey i needed a TSX engine and kpro..... she didnt fall for it. lol

Hmmm... definitely check his idea with the VTC solenoid. But what you just described sounds like a worn out timing chain tensioner failure (low oil pressure, soft spring, worn ratchet).

I would turn the crank pulley till the timing mark lines up... then remove the valve cover and check the cam gears for timing. If you dunno how to do that lemme know... im sure im not far from you and can help ya out.

Oh.. and you dont ASK... you TAKE. lol

no joke! i printed out a post and put it in my glove box so it would remind me to check it. lol i told my wife im just gonna start checking the vtc solenoid first anytime i have a problem. Thanks again everyone for the help
