mini-diesel?

My 04 EP has been a bit noisier than normal lately. I checked valve clearance and it was within specs. I also noticed I am not getting as many MPG as before, around 2-3 less MPG under same conditions. I changed plugs, air and fuel filter, serpentine belt, belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat and coolant since it is now 120K miles. Still no change. I use Mobil 1. Car is stock, no CELS. I am not sure why when I drive out there seems to be a valve noise, which tends to subside after a while. Any ideas??

Mine has been acting the same but I'm at 193k. There's a lot of noise coming from the engine than usual. I also don't have a CEL. I'm checking my valve clearance today. Hopefully it's nothing severe.

That's funny your car does the same and looks the same as mine (other than headlamps), same color, with yellow fogs and red emblem on the grill! LMK if you find anything. I cannot find anything wrong with mine except the noise and drop in MPG.

Haha yeah but I have a black bumper now.. I was doing a little searching right now, but have you checked your injectors? This could cause the drop in gas mileage..

I have run the injector cleaning stuff in the gas tank from time to time, even the BG stuff but nothing changed.

could it be because of temperature, in the winter denser air = more gas consumtion
