Is there any race harness that can bolt in to the child seat anchors or can bolt in without modification? If not, is there a roll bar that goes across the back seats like this one http://www.rollcagestore.com/images/P/sparco_harness_bar.jpg I kinda get thrown a bit in the seat at the track and would like something to hold me down more. Also, will a harness work with the stock seats?

Sparco makes great harness bars, i wouldn't feel safe using the child anchors, if i were u id go for the bar and harnesses.

What about the universal NRG http://www.racinglab.com/nrg-harness-bar-u-47.html seems good, but how would it bolt up?

Read this: http://my350z.com/forum/autocross-road/478863-child-restraint-racing-harness.html

You'll want to make sure you're within spec on the angles the belts fall at. Running a harness bar will let you run shorter belts (good) at the right angles (critical). However, the bar is useless if it's not mounted into the safety anchor points of the car. Almost_fast has a harness bar that uses the original shoulder mounts, if I remember correctly. You may want to shoot him a PM.

Don't go getting a crushed spine or thrown out the windshield by a cool looking or inexpensive idea. You obviously have more track experience than me so I'm not trying to sound preachy, but I'm sure you already know the importance of doing plenty of research and spending the money that may safe your life--that's why you posted!

Best of luck :)

I'm just wondering if anyone has done it here, I'm definitely not gonna cheap-out since my life is at stake lol, when I was going around the track I just found myself using the steering wheel to hold on and I was talking to a few guys and they said they knocked off 2 seconds off their best lap time just with a harness

What kind of seat are you in? I'm trying to think of more members who have harnesses who could show their setups.

NEVER EVER USE ONE OF THOSE BARS TO MOUNT YOUR HARNESS TO,...

Those bar are meant only to help guide the harness I have to leave for work (around 4) ill post later how to properly setup a harness and where to mount it, also have a link somewhere of what happened to someone in a wreck who mounted there harness there.

Check out the CG Lock. It's a cheap alternative to a harness that works with your stock seatbelt & helps hold you in place, opposed to having to deal with the hassle of a harness. Assuming you're autocrossing a car that sees street duty, harnesses can be a pain in the ass.

http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/cg-lock_performance-add-on-for-your-seatbelt.html

The CG-Lock gives you about 80% of the holding power of a full race harness. Why do people use a harness? You don't need to "hang on" when driving hard...you can keep your feet light on the pedals and your hands light on the wheel for better driving control, faster reactions, and less fatigue. You are "one with the vehicle"...you can sense the vehicle movement better, react sooner, and "feel" your way through the tricky spots more easily. Your safety is increased. Unfortunately, most of us do our track driving in our daily drivers with standard three-point automotive seat belts, not racing harnesses. Once the CG-Lock is installed, you pull up on the shoulder harness of your seatblet, and the lap belt portion gets "racing harness tight" and stays as tight as you want until you release it! Simple, But what a difference it makes. Instructor's model allows for easy installation and removal to be used on multiple vehicles. Great for driving schools where portability is needed.

It is my opinion that it is unsafe to use a harness with stock seats anyway. The shape of the seats just doesn't allow for it very well. My .02.

ok heres what happens when you mount the harness to a "harness bar"

As far as I know the passenger was ejected from the car and the driver had massive head trauma. Harness's are meant to be mounted to a secure location, the bolt that holds the belt buckels in are much stronger thicker and built to withstand the force of holding a hundered plus pound object in the event of a crash and is the absolute only spot in the car you should ever mount one unless its to a real roll cage. Now as far as a harness goes its when its mounted down low it needs the harness bar to help guide the harness so its not angling downwards right behind the driver otherwise is a crash you risk crushing all of your internal organs.

I highly recommend a Schroth Rallye 3 its what I have, its built to withstand years of use unlike any other harness that deteriorates over time due to temp. and general use of stretching and whatnot, it has a simple belt buckle, is cheap, and due to the design you shouldint end up like Dale Earnhardt unlike any other non street legal harness that would be best used with the HANS device.

Heres how mine looks without a bar, to get a gerneral idea of where the mounting point is on the ep3.

That's where I have my lower straps mounted on to the actual seats and the long part I have to the harness bar I'll take a pic of my setup in a bit but now that I see this thread I might just go ahead and get it strapped down to the rear seats

Looks great, it's a bit pricey but I saw a Sparco one very similar. Would I be able to use a belt like that with the stock seats?

Idk I personally dont know, ive never have read of any issues of using a harness with stock seating in any car.

As far as the sparco,.. this one
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&sugexp=efis&gs_nf=1&tok=JK-FxqhSVCNPETe4ed-VIA&pq=sparco&cp=9&gs_id=c&xhr=t&q=sparco+harness&rlz=1T4GGHP_enUS370US370&um=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1404&bih=672&wrapid=tlif133212190360110&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=11100714450770079562&sa=X&ei=NpFmT5iJCoeqiAKPqeWjDw&ved=0CG4Q8wIwAQ#

Looks like it has a similair waist design, id try to find one with a single bolt mount, youll probably need a long design too.

The only question is how would I route the belts that go over your shoulders. I don't think putting them through the middle hole would be a good idea

That's all well & good until it isn't. They should be separated by the two shoulder holes.

I was thinking about this the other day,I have no idea where to find them but has anyone ever seen like a seat belt splitter plate. It kind of looks like a triangle but it basically feeds in two belts, one on top of the other through the bottom side of the triange /_\, and brings out the belts on the other sides of the triangle/_\. Basically like a Y. ive seen them before on race cars airplanes but ive tried looking, no dice and would have no idea where to find one.
