Just curious if anyone was running 225/45 or 50/16s? I bent a rim recently and I have about a couple of months of tire wear left before I buy a new set. Does anyone run this particular setup and doesn't mind sharing pictures? Also please post suspension setup?

danielse is running 225/50s on his base rsx wheels (same specs as 04-05 stockies).

not sure what his suspension setup is though. go check out his thread!

I thought base rsx rims ran 205?

that's the stock tire width, but you don't necessarily HAVE to run one size on each width of rim.

a stock 6.5 wide wheel could probably run anything from like a 185 to a 225. would all of these sizes be ideal for performance though? nope

Yeah my old set up was base rsx rims on 225/50 with tein lowering springs. Roughly 1.25-1.5 inch drop. No scrapes or rubbing unless you hit a really hard bump.

Currently on my phone so I can't post pictures. Check out my build thread and pm me if you have any questions.

Hey there... I've been running on 225/50/16's for about 4 months now.
I'm lowered on Eibach pro kit (only ~1" drop), but there is some occasional scraping on the driver's side rear, mostly over "dips" at highway speed, which probably has more to do with the relatively soft shocks (Tokico HP's aka "blues").
Few pics:

(excuse these crappy phone pics, of course only made crappier by Photobucket: )

I probably would've preferred 225/45, but the tire choices seemed very limited in that size, and I got these Kumho Ecsta 4X's for around $82/tire (after $50 rebate).
So far I'm very pleased with the handling, and if nothing else at least the tall sidewall makes for a decent ride and fills the wheel gap a little more. :mcool: Hope this helps...

225 50 16s on my daily 5zigen replicas. I have some Hankook V12s on there and I love this setup. Tons of tire, low noise, pretty smooth ride.

Thanks, they're 16x7, +40, nothing special really, just run-of-the-mill Rotas. :mcool:

I thinking of going with 225/50R16's on 16x7 +40 Rota Slipstreams. I'm on HFP suspension (so only 3/4 inch drop) and I'm a little worried about rubbing in the rear. Anybody running this setup? Dbl-Htch, do you think that an extra 1/4 inch would keep you from rubbing in the back?

Well the rubbing really isn't that bad, I've learned to anticipate it as much as possible and if I just slow down a bit/ adjust my path slightly I'm usually good. I think the extra 1/4" in height should probably just make it a non-issue altogether, of course your shocks come into play here also, not sure how stiff the HFP dampers are considered.
(I was also going to say an 8" wide wheel would obviously make it more susceptible to rubbing though, but then I noticed you changed it to a 7". lol)

I have 225/50 on the stock 04-05 wheels with 1.5" drop and I don't rub anywhere.

Cool, I didn't think there would be much of a problem. I guess it might be worth mentioning that I'm on the 02-03 4 lug suspension, but I imagine that won't make much of a difference. Does anybody know the stock offset for the 02-03 wheels? I wanna do some maths before I blow a bunch of money on this. Depending on where I buy from I may only have a choice of a +45 backspacing.

Just for the record, I have 225/50/16 Hankook RS3's on Rsx stock size 16/7.5 wheels with a 1.5" drop and just rub slightly on the passenger side inner wheel well. I'm ordering 5mm spacers to to help clear. My last year's 225/45/16's did clear however...

I thought the same thing when I saw this pic, I guess I've just gotten used to seeing 225/50's now.
Damn, this thread seems to have come back to life a bit... lol I never realized that many people were running 225/50/16's, the only one I could seem to find was '03civicdopejmd's car when I was debating on whether or not to go with this size.
Well, he definitely helped sway my decision, his ride looks great! :thumbu:
Up with the 'hellabeef' movement...

I'm running 225/50R16s on some +35 7.5" wide wheels. Prob about 1.5" drop. Had to roll the rear to stop from rubbing.

haha thanks man, yes fill your wells with meat!
I'll look for a side shot, this is my take on it, if you want to be more nimble but scrafice dd'ing youll want the 45's but if you want to be comfortable and can deal with a small amout of tire roll then the 50's are your best bet

plus the dunlops run 10mm wider then the other 225's soo your really running closer to a 235... I love the dunlops

Im on bcrsd's with out a finger gab or less in the front and a fingure gab or more in the rear.. there close but the rear is deffinitly higher!

This guy below me doesnt live in TX... lol!

I am running 225/50 16's as well. Currently on 16x7 +42 wheels. At first I was a little skeptical about the size, but the extra diameter has helped my acceleration somewhat.
The look has kinda grown on me though, I give hella beefy two thumbs up.
Sitting on Tein super streets with about 1/2" gap and minimal camber out back.
