URGENT transmission question!!!!

Ok so im driving home tonight....not driving like a crazy mad kan or anything just shifting at 2500-3000....so i start off from a red light and wwhen it came time to sshift from 2nd to 3rd i heard a bang...i then pulled it into neutral and went threw the gears to see how they felt....every gear worked fine except the top gears (1,3,5) felt really weird going in....so i continued home....when i got home i parked it and went threw the gears again and it felt normal again....so i decided i would take it around my complex and test it out again....same thing again (1,3,5) felt weird....so i park it again and i go to put it into neutral and i cant....i can only put it into 1,2.....so i pop the hood and try mocing the selecter manually and it moved fine....i then tryed the shifter again and i cant get it into first but 2 gear works ....and when i try to put it imto 3,4,5 or reverse i cant because its so damn tight in there....


Now hopefully someone has some kind of input on what this could be....ibe been told it could be the shifter cables...but it could also be the tranny..

What do you think it could be and should i start with changed the cables??

How many miles are on your cables? Is there anything near the shifter linkage on top of the trans?

Transmissions usually die slowly; the good news is that it's probably something simple like something in the way of your linkage. Check for free play by letting a friend shift through while you look at the engine bay.

def check the shifter cables, they maybe shot. if so i suggest Hybrid Racing Cables, best bank for buck

Well im pretty positive that its the cables.....i unhooked them from the tranny and one of the cables is stiff a s hell.....so i ordered some shifter cables today and they will be in on tuesday

Got the cables out yestaurday afternoon and this is what i found

Also decided that since it cant be driven i would pull the valve cover and do a valve adjusment and paint my valve cover....its still in the drying process but will be baked this afternoon....painted it last nit and this it how it looked this morning

Good idea to take advantage of the down time. Post final pics of the valve cover and let us know if the cable replacement solves it (sure looks like it will)

Just finished the baking process a couple hours ago....just have to clean up the honda letters and will be reinstalled tomorrow or tuesday...im pretty impressed with how it turned out especially since its,my first time doing it....only part i dont like is in the center by the holes for the coilpacks but it gets covered up anyways so im not overly worried about it
