replaced trans and now speedo off and gears seem higher.

My third syncro was gone so I bought a used trans out of a wrecked 02 ep3 and paid a friend with a lift, tools and skills to swap it. The trans came with a used but good condition exedy clutch and pressure plate so I put that in also. My friend informed me that the pressure plate would not bolt up. holes were different and too small. So we kept the old pressure plate for now and installed it. everything else was fine. Now when I drive it my speedo is like 15mph off on the freeway and my rpms are just over 4k at about 70. Both transmissions are NRH3. Any help on how I can at least fix the speedo??????

im pretty sure thats were my speedo is when im at 70, at 80 im at 4.6k rpms

my guess is the guts are swapped and you might have an a2 transmission. that exedy was probably a type s clutch, doesn't fit the ep3 flywheel.
@80 mph your rpms would say 4700. hows reverse? way over to the right?

That's really strange, someone went through the hassle of swapping out K20A2 gears 1-5 with the EP3 trans and didn't do a 6th gear? LOL?!?

HAHA! Seriously!! But the guy I bought it from seemed like he was a real straight shooter. haha. I don't really understand it. His EP was pretty built. He was parting it out cause he wrecked it. I saw the tranny in the car, the next day he pulled it, I looked at it again, seemed fine and bought it. Took me a few months to get it installed.
But, after he pulled the tranny he gave me a call and told me he "forgot" that there was an exedy clutch in there. so maybe he troll'd me, or maybe he just didnt know shit. But I got it for so cheap I guess I cant complain.

Now my speedo is tweakin! When driving on the freeway it starts hopping like 10-15 mph. then it starts to drop like 25-45 mph. Then all of a sudden it will turn off and stay at 0 for a few minutes and then pop back up.... I have no clue whats going on.

check your speedo plug on the top of tranny, towards firewall, sounds loose, it just screws in. then harness and grounds. sounds like you got some kind of hack job.
