Drag race wheel offset

I was wondering if the backspacing on wheels makes a difference for traction. What i mean is does the wheels sticking out further or in more matter.

it doesn't change the width of tire so it shouldn't make a difference with traction, But would effect how far you can turn the wheel. more tire inside and it will rub
