Hey guys, doing some research on where i wanna go with my ep, and im pretty sure i wanna end up with a turbo setup but don't want to do it on my a3 which is almost gettin up to 135k miles. I do plan on puttin in a tsx 6th grear, probably rebuilding my tranny, but i wanted to know what would be an ideal motor swap for a turbo setup. Thanks for the help

for low price + boostability i think a low mileage and healthy k24a1 would be the best.

Really its all about your budget. If you want the torque then it would be 06 k24a2. If you want to rev balls to the then k20a. If you are leaving the long block alone and cheap semi reliable then a low mileage k24a1/4/8. It's all about preference. It's all in you!

Id recommend a z3 with a 5 speed...

I actually was leaning towards the k24a2. Im not planning on jumping on everything all at once, gotta take things step by step, so the k24a2 i feel is a great jump from the a3 as it is. Money in this case isn't an issue. not saying im rich or anything, but i have money saved up, and continually putting more into that. also, id like to know, say if i were to get a motor swap, would i still be using ep3/rsx specific bolt-ons and whatnot? Sorry for all the questions, still trying to learn as much as i can before i pull the trigger on anything at all.

currently, im all stock engine wise. Another thing i was wondering was sooner or later i want to try to get a mugen twinloop exhaust cuz i love the sound of it. would that actually be a bottleneck down the road? >.>

one other other thing, would i be able to keep all my components, like AC and power steering, if i go this route? i'm still planning on keepin this my DD so i dont want to get rid of some luxuries i have

authentic twin loops are like a 2.5" inlet so anything over 300 and it would probably be considered a bottleneck. you do have the option of running a 3" OBX twinloop though.

you can maintain all of your components. essentially the only difference is the header fitment and the strange angle of the intake mani on the k24a2. you can however run an rbc for more power + better intake fitment. other than that it's like the same engine externally.

I would say go with the B series swap. A lot of people tell me it's really fast.

06+ k24a2 overall is the strongest k series imo

Thanks for all the input guys. Anybody know a good exhaust system that would benefit the turbo well but have a similar sound to the mugen twin loop? or something with a kind of low, stock/stealth sound? i dont want anything too loud >.> thanks again!

turbo cars aren't super loud anyway, but i would say a 3" out with a vibrant resonator and a vibrant muffler would sound good and not overly loud. civic5lug is running a full race kit with a 3" vibrant muffler and it's eargasmic
