as the title states.
I was driving on a longish road trip. Driving through heavy rain.
All of a sudden my exhaust gets really loud. (its stock)

How would i know if i blew my cat and or muffler?
it also threw a cel which meant the primary 02 sensor went out.

any thoughts?

thanks

Does it sound raspy? It could be a bad gasket seal. Or perhaps your exhaust rusted through & there's now a hole. Get under the car & have a look.

Take it somewhere to have your codes read. Go from there.

had the code read, it said primary o2 sensor

primary o2 leads me to beleive that it's something more than just a hole in your exhaust. probably either leaking at the gasket between the header/cat or partially hydrolocked. how heavy was the rain? and what intake do you have?

stock intake
i was driving in the aftershocks of that tropical storm on the east coast. I was going 50 on a 65 -70 mph freeway for the better part of 4 hours. only being able to see 20 feet in front of me for at least an hour is sadly no exaggeration.

that code made me think that it was more than a hole as well.

Yeah I'd be checking for leaks, put the car on stands and follow your ears. If your idle is the same RPM as it was but you're just making more noise you're looking for a leak somewhere. Splashes of water can cause (aftermarket) exhaust components to knock against the underside of your car (some people hear a banging noise through puddles), so there's a chance that kind of expansion/movement of components may have opened up a leak somewhere.
