How'd everything turn out with the springs? Notice anything quirky about the bump stops? Whenever you have a chance e-mail me those pics! Thanks again!

ssvr6
03-31-2003, 05:56 AM
So far so good. I will be bringing it back since he only sprayed a lubriacant on the spring "caps" (where the grease is) and didn't repack it. The clanging noise is only noticeable when I go over speed bumps (which is every day).

This morning on my way to work (5:30am) I came to a complete stop on the service road in my works plaza and took it up from a complete stop to second gear. When I used to shift, the car would "squat" back. There's no sign of that at all anymore. That's all I wanted. :)

Steve

HondaMan
03-31-2003, 08:33 AM
Yeah, they are working good for me as well...my rear springs make more noise than the front springs. I rarely hear my front springs, but hear the right rear spring when going slow over big dips or bumps. I had the front springs packed big time from doing them myself with the wrong H&R springs and imagine the guys that did my Progress springs install left all that grease there or repacked it well...at least that's what I hope, which is probably the case since they are very quiet. I'm getting a SPC rear camber kit soon via Chuck...after 8,000 miles the rear tires are showing uneven wear. Going to balance and rotate the wheels once I get that camber kit (should have done this before now but haven't had the time). :)

BTW, K-series and your EP are looking great Steve!

Not yet, I'm going today to get it done. I had to go to a custom wheel shop to get my wheels mounted and balanced. Then I'm heading to Sears at the Mall (most likely) so I can wander around there while they're aligning it.

Good Roads in Ft. Lauderdale gave me a great deal on tires, mounting, and balancing...and they're really fast...and they painted my calipers just because they wanted to make my ride look better. Check it out next time you need tires or balancing.

That's where I ended up going. They asked if I wanted my calipers painted but I'd rather do them myself. (I'm a perfectionist and I want to use the folia tec stuff.)

Now I have to go to a place near them to get my car aligned. Is that where you went Mike? (Powerline and Commercial for the alignment?)

Yup, 16lbs. The old wheels and tires weighed in at 36.5lbs. The new ones are 39lbs. Not bad for bigger wheels and better tires.

Aftermarket turbo kit = bye-bye warranty!

Aren't you gonna put a turbo timer in that thing??

I hope thaat you are running low boost because 9.8 compression is not a good idea coupled with say 10+ psi...just not reliability wise.

Ah yes, and the genius chimes in...

The warranty for things that are important to me is still there. They can't void a window regulator due to a turbo.

There is a turbo timer, look at the pics again.

The lower the compression the better for boost.

Now, go do your homework next time before you make an ass out of yourself on my post.

Steve

StrangeShadow

I know a new clutch is needed for the power boost, but I'm not sure what is ment by slipping, any help would be appreciated? :)

ssvr6
07-28-2003, 04:49 PM
Basically, the car isn't moving when I gun it in first and second since the clutch can't hold the power. It litterally slips. A new clutch won't let that happen.

...and the redundant one responds! I knew that lower compression is better hence my warning from the post I made earlier, "...because 9.8 compression is not a good idea coupled with say 10+ psi..."

Thank you for the unnecessary reiteration though. Who has made himself the ass?

Had you done your homework, you would've known that to trade in for a WRX would've been much cheaper than to put an aftermarket turbo in--you could've gotten your turbo gratification and not lost your warranty (not to mention that Subaru's warranty is longer anyways).

ssvr6
07-28-2003, 06:40 PM
Why is 9.8 not good with 10 psi? I have to hear this....

Man.....you have a superiority complex now that you have a WRX with a "real" turbo...;) Big deal man, everyone and their grandmother has one. Just to let you know I've beaten every single WRX I have ever raced, including one chipped WRX who claimed that I was spraying and it was unfair. Mind you I will not race from a standstill on the street, only track.
Steve has been very cool ever since I joined this board and knows his shiz, he even has the same rims as I do... albeit mine are 18s. So don't make an ass out of yourself by trying to make Steve look bad, when he will still kick your ass at the track even with mods on your car, by that time your warranty on your engine will be void as well.... I have a superiority complex? Your car is slow as ****! Why do you have to lie like that? It's an automatic RSX, which is even slower than the Si's!...it runs a 16.8 stock!!!

Your only advantage is your awd, top end is just about the same if not worse than a RSX. From a rolling start I can see an RSX, GSR, etc take you.

Im sorry I got Steve's back here cause he's been cool as far as I can see, and fair. On the other hand the Wrx is what it is good from a start but kinda slow at a roll. It looks like Popeye on crack, and it's not the greatest car by a long shot. I realize people buy what they like, and I must agree with Steve and many others here, we bought the Ep cause it looks nice and the price is right. So lets price compare shall we. I probaly paid more than most for my Ep at 19k. I plan to add on 4k worth of turbo glory which brings me to 24k. Last Wrx I saw was 24-25 and looked really ugly next to my car. It only runs mid 14's and did I mention it doesn't look as good as an Ep? Steve's car on the other hand is capable of mid to low 13's maybe high 12's and it only the tip of the iceberg for the K20a3, and it looks good. Sorry to rant but this guy is lost cause last time I checked this was Ephatch...
