So I'm here setting the timing and installing the chain on my engine build I'm putting together in my garage and noticed this:

I even went and bought the Honda camshaft alignment tool as you can see in one of the pictures and the cam gears still look just a hair off.

The weird thing is everything else is perfect, just not the hash marks on the cam gears.

I'm using Crower Stage 2 cams:

I didn't have time to sit down and figure it out so I went ahead and continued with completing the rest of the engine, set the valve lash, etc.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm using a K20A2 head on a K20Z3 block, not sure if that even matters, but I'm using the A2 cam gears and using the Z3 chain, guides, and tensioner.

Hmmm, it looks perfect. Maybe something with the cams perhaps. Other than that it looks right on.

Yea I thought about that too, but I don't know maybe I'm too paranoid. I always triple check my work and specs so I guess I'll just leave it at that.

BTW, this is a stock K20Z3 shortblock, going to be shooting for 400WHP

When I get back next year from the desert I'm going to find some time and send off a K24 shortblock to ERL and get that bitch sleeved and bored to 89mm and slap the head you see there on it.

I thought you got rid of the k24, the one you were building that I sold that crank to ya? I'm the same way about being paranoid and triple checkin everything. So you just going to store the car instead of selling it?

Yea I did, would've ended up with headaches trying to piece everything I needed. So much little bullshit missing that would've cost me a fortune getting from Honda. I'm just going to source a complete A1 longblock and not have to deal with that again.

Yea I'm not selling the car anymore, nobody is serious, and by now I got way too much into it to let it go to someone who won't appreciate all the wotk, sweat, blood and pain I've poured into it.

I hear ya. Unfortuntely that is what I'm havin to do, piece by piece. That is why its going to take awhile of course.
