Cool swap. How is The power on it now?

modern-perf

Power is much better, especially when VTEC kicks in at 6000 rpm and the car pulls HARD all the way to redline (8200 rpm)

Ours goes to 8000...I just ignore the 6800 rpm redline indicated on our tach and shift when the needle is buried. Fuel cut is when the needle points to 30 mph on the speedo :p

I considered the JDM CTR cluster but the speedo is in km/h and I don't want that. I imagine the UK speedo reads in mph but I haven't seen one yet.

Just curious:) Around how much did cost to do the swap?

modern-perf
01-10-2003, 01:05 PM
RSX Engine/trans/ECU.........$2800
Reprogram ECU to match key.........$80
Type R valve cover........$150

Having 40 extra horses and 6 speeds....priceless.

Ride of the month is lame, there is not anything special about it, Just some really small pic. There should be more!

btw: not saying your ride is not worthy, au contrair, but there should be more detail posted and larger pics of why a ride is considered "ride of the month". does not do justice.

FIZZ has a JDM cluster with the proper tach but the speedo is in Km/H which is cool but kind of a pain in the ass to have to figure out in your head how fast you're going.

I'm holding out for a UK Type R cluster which would have the same tach as the JDM one but the speedo would read in MPH.

CTR kit.. JR race header, a USDM ECU and Hondata ITR flash(since Hondata will not touch the JDM ECU... and a couple more goodies that i can dream up:D

well next time I am down in Fresno I might have to come a bit farther and check out your shop. Maybe we can talk and I can get a feel for how tuff this swap is. I am seriously thinking of doing it when I am out of warranty (should be only 2-3 years the amount of miles I drive)

PoRT
05-01-2003, 10:49 AM
warranty schmarranty.. Honda will void your warranty if you fart too hard and it makes an indention in your seat. do the swap

J/J:D it is a very straight forward swap. its the same exact thing as taking your A3 completely out and putting it right back in. everything bolts up perfectly.. only modification is the shifter, and once you figure it out, or have someone tell you, it takes 10 min. the is a VERY easy procedure. come down to New Orleans this saturday, im finishing up my swap.. you can do all the work to get a hang of it.. i will just instruct you on what to do :p

2k3vbpEP
05-01-2003, 11:35 AM
cool, sounds easy enough, my dealer is pretty cool with mods as long as they aren't the kind that make a major difference ion power. They don't seem to mind stuff like header, intake, or exhaust and they were selling an EP awhile ago that they modified with Eibach Sportlines, a camber kit, and Tenzo-R wheels.

cool I have the same questions if your shop does the work, would rather see someone do the work that has already tried it sucessfully before. Plus, AC is a must in the valley :p

VERY nice man, looking good so far, how do u like the GReddy kit? Im between it and the Rev Hard kit. what type BOV r u running if any? Size intercooler if any?

modern-perf
06-25-2003, 04:39 PM
We do the Greddy turbo for $3995 installed. Yeah, that's alot. And yeah, it's hard to do.

A2 swap? Well, guess that depends on what the motor costs. I got mine cheap. I've seen swaps average around $3500. Add $1000 labor, plus fluids, tax, trip to Honda to reprogram ECU, etc.

I whole-heartedly recommend the Greddy over the Rev-Hard. Better engineering, better fit, uses an e-Manage for extra fuel, not a stupid rising rate FPR.

The Greddy will be CARB legal within 6 months.

I am running the Greddy Type S BOV and no intercooler until next month when the RSX front mount is released.

The UK DOES use MPH.

The JDM lights shine the wrong way.

There, I think I answered everything :D

(edit) Shit, I missed a question. The Greddy kit retains the AC and it works fine!

does the black oem bottom grill fit infront of the intercooler at all?

modern-perf
07-28-2003, 05:31 PM
Nope, that's why I removed it and installed aluminum mesh (painted black.)

The IC is for the RSX and the instructions show to trim the backside of the OEM grille for clearance. I probably could have done that but I like the look I got this way.

Suk02Si
07-28-2003, 11:29 PM
Looks cool without the oem lower grill.:)

StrangeShadow
07-29-2003, 05:06 PM
yea, I would've probably tried to hide it(intercooler), behind the oem grill that way I could add the oem fogs, plus avoid police eye-balling me cause of an intercooler.

modern-perf
07-29-2003, 09:11 PM
Well considering I own a shop and this car is basically my rolling business card, I wanted the FMIC out there for all to see. And since the cops have never fucked with me for my JDM front license plate, I doubt they will for an intercooler.

Besides, there's nothing more intimidating than a huge intercooler hanging out in front of a car that shouldn't have one.

Except maybe for the fat-ass whistle the blow off valve makes.
