You should paint your fuel cover a contrasting color like gold or something different

This stuff works wonders. Let it sit for acouple minutes. Then I used a PLASTIC putty knife and a small hammer... I don't have any hammer marks or dings on the interior metal.

Hey guys I found a spot that sells Dry Ice over here. I went to pick up 10 pounds of it and went to work immediately lol I took out all of the sound deadening from the rear seat area to the hatch. While removing the sound deadening I found more rust! :(

Tomorrow I will start the wire tuck. Wish me luck lol

I will post up pictures later on today. Dry Ice def has to be the coolest things ive mess with lol

No I'm not taking them out permanently, my daughter rides in the back :baby: but I will have to take them out to install the DC5-R aluminum floor bar I'm gonna get soon :biggrin1: If I find any rust though it's just gonna fuck with me :frusty:

Oh lol well you prolly wont see the rust cuz it could be hiding under the sound deadening like it did with mine :(

How much is that DC5-R bar?

poeticfinesse21
08-12-2012, 08:48 PM
Hmotorsonline has it for $150 + shipping, icbmotorsport has it for $175 + shipping. Sometimes you'll get lucky and find one on ebay or someone parting out a DC5-R on honda-tech. I'm sort of being patient and looking around to see if I can find one for $140 shipped or less. I think a lot places that import JDM parts don't even know that those bars are actually worth something.

fdnyjon
08-12-2012, 08:51 PM
Oh alllllrighty then lol I will put that on my list of parts

There's nothing wrong with wanting your car to handle like a Type-R :thumbu:

So i been doing a lil work on the EP these past days.. So far ive done about half of the wire tuck but i have one problem that I still have to correct.. My left brake light only comes on when i press the brakes so its not on when i have the headlights on.. Other than that.. I have bought 3M adhesive remover to remove the bits of glue and tar that were left from the sound deadening but I think its not a good product to use on it.. it took forever just to remove one small amount and the can is pretty much half way done already :( $10 per can....
Anybody have any other ideas on how to remove the glue and tar in order to get it ready for paint and what not? Thanks guys!

doing the same thing, was wondering how you removed all the tar out of your hatch and under the backseat? I've been using dry ice but there is some I couldn't get up. Any tips?

what I found to be the best technique was to put the dry ice pellets on the area and let it sit till it starts making cracking noises.. Then take a hammer and lightly hit the area so the sound deadening material starts to separate.. Then take a flathead and all you have to do is gently get under the sound deadening material and it should come off very easily in pieces.. Make sure you do one at a time because if you let the dry ice evaporate then it'll lose its low temp and you'll be left with alot of residue once you crack off the sound deadening materials. Good luck! Let me know how it turns out buddy.

Any tips of how you got the remaining tar up? my dry ice hammer and flathead method was a very long process and i still have small amounts of tar and residue left.

Heres a pic of what i had to go through in order to re-wire and re-run the wires for the left tail light instead of it hanging by the hatch door. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t363/fdnyjon/WP_002441.jpg

goo-gone, simple grease, and any other tar removal solution with alittle elbow grease will get it removed.

How are you going to paint the interior? jsut sand then slap on some paint? was wondering your route on this.
Wire tuck done!! Now have to put that work in with the adhesive remover :( Most likely going to go with the same silver color instead of painting white since white will require alot more work..

Here are some pics.. Pretty messy but whatever lol

I already went to my friends paint shop to ask for an estimate.. I dont know exactly how they will paint but im sure its going to be a full job.. although i saw that most of the paint is in really good condition except where the sound deadening was.. So I might just get the floor board painted and and the two wheel hump things.. I will ask him what he thinks about that

ohhhh i see your going with a shop. i want to do this my self but id rather not get overspray somewhere and what not.. let me know what you end up doing, all of my paint is perfect besides where the tar was layed.

Do not buy some shitty after market strut bar. Read this thread its a must for chassis bracing and the parts are all direct bolt oem parts. I've already ordered mine and they should be here by weeks end.

That would make a good thread. There are several of us with gutted interiors. Mine is just the basics with no adornment, still working out of the back of mine so it's not pretty.

Yeah ive seen many but mostly all in Type R EP's :)

Hopefully I have some time this week to work on my car again. I still haven't removed the ugly glue/tar stuff. Its a bitch to remove for some reason lol

5Zigen makes a rear strut bar, H bar, and connecting bar for the RSX. Should fit the EP. You could also get a 4pt bolt in roll bar from Autopower.
