I thought that it is about time that I post some pictures to show how the wiring using the factory foglight gromet looks like.

Notice that only about 9 inches of wire is in the engine compartment.

Then the wiring is run above the fender and goes through a gromet next to the hood release lever.

Edit: Might have to copy and paste the url to see the pics. Hopefully the pics will stay up this time! Remember when doing this you have to lower the fender a little, but not entirely take it off. Looking at the grommet you should be able to runa 4 guage pretty easily.

How do you like the sound? Stock receiver? Is it attatched to the floor?

I have attached the basslink using two bolts through the flat part of the floor next to the tire well. Very solid mount with no moving around.

I am using the factory head unit utilizing the high level input and auto turn on (works perfectly, just has to wait 5 minutes after the car is turned off before it turns off)

My old car (240sx fastback) had an Image Dynamics IDQ10 in a .8 cube sealed box being powered by 250 watts of JL power. I never competed in any car audio events, but have a pretty good hear for SQ. I received nothing but compliments from any one who sat in my car (grandparents to 15 year experience installer).

I would rate the system a solid 8 out of 10 for SQ. Not as good as my old system but then again that wasn't the sole reason for choosing the unit. It fills out the bottom end nicely and complements my Polk rear speakers and Infinity components well. If you are looking for something that will shake the car next to you this unit will not do that (although it does vibrate the mirrors and has a decent kick in the back feeling). It is by far the best sounding amp/speaker/box combinaion out there.

I was looking for:
1. Solid SQ to fill in the lower frequencies
2. small as possible (didn't buy a HB for only the looks)
3. Light weight
4. easy to remove for track days (weighs about 25 pounds, far less than 3/4 inch MDF, speaker and amp)

How do you lift up the carpet to get to the spare if the sub is screwed down?

The mat and cardboard lift up on the passenger side just enough to get the jack out. I have 2 bolts with locknuts going through the floor, tight but not extremely tight (on the backside of the sub, facing the wall). If I have to get the spare tire out I simply remove the two large bolts going through the Basslink, move the basslink to the side and rotate the brackets, this gives me enough room to lift the tire out.

Hope these pictures help people who are wondering how I mounted the Basslink.

These 2 bolts go through the Basslink (in their own airtight passage), when removed one can remove the entire Basslink (Track days, big trips)

These are the 2 bolts that go through the floor of the trunk, I can move them around to access the spare tire once the Basslink is removed.

This is where the bolts go through, they are inside of the beam held with locknuts and covered in silicon (no air/water/road grime getting in here)

The 2 bolts provide plenty of resistance to movement, a solid mount.

Are you running your Polk rear speakers and Infinity components off the stock head unit? IF so did it make a noticable difference to the sound quality? How did it change - louder / clearer / fuller sound?

Yes I am running the Infinity components of the head unit (hanging my head in shame) as well as the Polks. The components are crying out to have proper power, but they are going to have to wait tell I get some extra spending money.

After replacing the speakers the highs improved, they are now a bit clearer. The mid bass was not as noticeable but still had a decent improvement. With the addition of the subwoofer and speakers the sound quality is much broader. IMO definitely worth the hassle and money. Now the only thing left for my system is a new head unit and amp.

Also I have about 8 sq/ft of Dynamat Extreme. I did not have any rattles but felt that the road noise was a little excessive, I think it helped a lot.

Thanks so much. I think I am going to go with this when I get the money. Witch I hope will be very soon. Since I have the fog lights I am going to have to drill a hole I guess in the fire wall for the wire but that will be no big deal.

I guess I only have one last question. When you put the bolts in it sounded like you had to drill through the floor. Am I reading that right?
