Long story short, I attempted to install my JRSC this past weekend, hitting a snag with the bolts and the thermal IMG I took it off. While I was putting everything back on, I decided to swap out the original belt tensioner with a replacement gates tensioner. I bought the new tensioner in hopes to have a backup to modify once I did get the JRSC installed, as to avoid the manual belt tensioner. I re-used the belt that was on the car.
It's a mixed bag, I've checked that the ribs are all lined up, they are. For whatever reason and it won't do it when I'm watching it. It will last for a day and the next it will hop off again. I just put the belt back over to the left and align the ribs on the idler and it's good again for a bit. No wear or tear on the belt sides either.
I'm thinking new tensioner old belt bad combo, or the tensioner is bad somehow.
Has anyone else come across this problem. Hoping I don't run into this when I do the manual tensioner again.
