Do I need a new throttle cable?

So my throttle cable is pretty much at max adjustment under the hood. It just hits full throttle with the pedal to the floor but I have that annoying pedal play at the idle position. The pedal has to be depressed at least 1/2 an inch before it starts moving the throttle plate. If I no longer have adjustment available does that mean my cable is a little stretched and I need a new one?

I just adjusted mine to the position where I also have no play but now my cable is maxed, so I assume soon enough I'll need a new cable as well
