View Full Version : 5 Lug Conversion Parts?

I work at a dealer and have a pretty decent wholesale discount on parts and was thinking of slowly piecing together a 5 lug swap.

I work with Honda on a regular basis, but don't have as easy access to Acura parts.

Is it possible to change over the knuckles from an 04-05 to 02-03.

If not what exactly will I need to swap over?

If so what should I look at getting besides knuckles and hub and rotors?

[QUOTE=tht1guy;982336]i assume i will need

axles - don't need. they're the same from 02-05
knuckles (dust shield) - make sure they come with the dust shield and ABS sensor
hub - should come with the knuckles
rotors - yes
calipers (pads) - yes

anything i'm missing? - nope

Because you're going EP3 to EP3 everything will bolt right up.
If you were to use RSX you would have needed more parts.

Not meaning to thread jack but why couldn't you press a 5 lug wheel bearing onto the stock 02-03 knuckle?

You aren't thread jacking. After reviewing the Honda OEM part numbers on the 4 lug and 5 lug front wheel bearings, I don't think it'll work. They have different part numbers. This leads me to beleive that the diameter of the hub shaft might be different.

Also, the part numbers on the rear knuckles are different and the rear hubs are different as well. I'm not 100% sure about swapping hubs only.

good question, but I assumed the same thing. Different diameter bearings. Which in reality was smart of Honda.$$$

but honestly this wouldn't save much except the cost of the knuckles, you would still need new calipers and rotors.

You can do either the 02-05 DC5-S or the 05/06 DC5-S

02-04 DC5-S

Front:
Rotors,
Calipers,
Knuckles/Hub/Spindle,
ABS Lines unless you add a few washers to do the trick. :)
36MM Axles

Rear:
Any Year 04-05 Ep3,DC5,DC5-S Knuckles, hub, spindles. Bolts right up.

05-06 DC5-S

Front:
Rotors,
Calipers,
Knuckles/Hub/Spindle,
ABS Lines unless you add a few washers to do the trick. :)
36MM Axles
05-06 Front Lower Control Arms (A Arms)

Rear:
Any Year 04-05 Ep3,DC5,DC5-S Knuckles, hub, spindles. Bolts right up.

Correct me if Im Wrong.

Looks like just a few last parts to by just incase. Not sure if my swap is 02-04 or 05-06 (is there a way to check?)

the ball joint is bigger on the 05-06 knuckle to a arm and the hub is bigger also. :thumbu:

for the rear I actually only swapped the hub and disc, caliper and everything else it the same, you may notice that you gain positive camber on the front end when you use the type s knuckles I just used camber bolts, but this could be also because i still have stock suspension

check that your knucles are not bent.. Even slightly will br a PITA to align.

I Did the 5 lug type s conversion on my 03 ep i ended up with positive camber on one wheel and negative on the other but rides good and brakes are so much better now

yea 05 06 wont fit in your ep control arms you have to get the type s because the ball joints are bigger i took mine to a shop and had them drill them out since io had an 05 06 conversion

no way to really check if they are bent, but both sides had the exact same amount of camber Im just going to assume it is because of stock Ep3 4x4 ride height lol

mine were bent. you can kinda tell they will be completely strait. 90 degree angles. if you have them off or can fit a ruller under it to mesure it line it up and if the lines are crooked its probably bent. i put mine on by wiggling it in there and it had a -3 toe lol thats how i could tell -.-
