I had to replace mine 4 months ago. This is how my connector looks like:

I had to do the same about 3 years ago. I had to pay for the part cause my ep3 was made in the U.K. not here U.S. I thought that was pretty weird, it only cost about 70 dollars.

you sure about that? your vin should start with 'SHHEP'. 'SH' is for Swindon Honda

So should this be replaced for free with my car?

All EP's were made in England.

Had this replaced under warranty at the dealer ship. The just extend one wire that goes to the low beams. Apparently its too short, and when turning the wheel the connector pulls out of the plug and can cause it to heat up. Melting the plug in the process.

Can someone post the actual recall notice? Or where can I print it out ? I want to take it to honda.

I found this which highlights all the recalls.

I have never had an issue. What exactly needs to be replaced? Where is it located and how long does it take?

its an easy fix, i just replaced it with a 04 civic coupe one a long time ago and no problems, just got it from the junk yard, the wires are a thicker gauge

I've owned at least one of these puppies for 10 years , and I didn't know there was any relationship between the VIN and Swindon. Thanks for the post.

Same here. Everything has been working fine thus far. Get that ish done if you haven't though. It's bound to happen sooner or later.

Years ago I had that happen to the EP. I called Honda under the original bulletin for a recall, but they denied me because my VIN showed the car was made in the second half of 2002 and that the problem should have been corrected before my car was assembled. It was horse-shit. I ran it for years and finally got it fixed last spring. I traded in the car back in July and still miss the heap that it was.

I just got my letter last night. It came with a form that states if you had it fixed they might be able to reimburse you with proof.

How do the recall notices work? Do you have to be the original owner to get any type of notice?

Nope. If you're name is on the title Honda will mail it to your registered address.

There is also a letter/document that came with the recall letter that states if you sold the car they will try and contact the new owner but must be filled out. I would imagine with or without the letter you would be helped. As far as the hids and or depo lights you should be fine since it has to do with it being internal. If you are still a little 50/50 on the situation I would go to a different Honda and see what they say if they say no push the matter if they still say no leave uninstall and then go to a different Honda to get the recall done and then complain.

It states per the letter if your not satisfied with the service from your Honda dealer you may write to:
American Honda Motor Co Inc
Honda Automobile Customer Service
Mail Stop 500-sN-7A
1919 Torrance Blvd
Torrance Ca 90501-2746

I entered my VIN here but it told me the recall doesn't apply to my car: http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/SEO/HondaRecall.asp?recallStatus=NO%20VIN&recallId1=NO%20RECALL%20IDS

My car is an 03 Si with lo beams that do not work... any way I can get this fixed with the recall even if my VIN isn't on the list?

So how did that work? My letter says Honda will reimburse me for the repair when I attach an invoice and mail it to them

No homie, go take it to the dealership and they will just do it for free. That letter says if you have already paid to have it done (say like 2 or 5 years ago) then you can get a full reimbursement.

:)

Mine cost me zero doll-hairs.

I stopped by the dealership today - they said my car was covered. For the people who had this done - are they just splicing in a new harness or is it a section that plugs in? Is the new harness any different or just a new one of the same specs? If it's the same thing, I'm going to just loom what is there because I really don't want anyone else working on my car, their monkeys will just use crimps or something instead of soldering.

the problem is the wires are too thin and overheat, the new part has thicker gauge wires, when i fixed mine years ago i got it from a 01 up civic coupe from the junk yard cause it has the thicker wires

My left low beam is not functioning at all, I thought it was the hid bulb or ballast so I plugged in my oem bulb and it still wont turn on, is this the problem this thread is about?

Read the bulletin! Its a low beam wire that goes to the combo switch. The factory wire is too short, and can come unclipped from the inside of the connector and possibly melt the plug.
