Maybe this will help. I dunno I have a rsx charger on my ep3 and somewhat followed this when I rebuilt the snout, has the part about oil in it.

I mean don't pull the snout off of course, but same idea undo drain bolt dump out old oil, put in new.

Tools/parts needed
1 large syringe/turkey baster
2 bottles of GM Supercharger Oil Part # 12345982 (Can be found at some Chevy/GM Dealerships, but you will have better luck at dealership that specializes in Buicks since a lot of Buicks had 3.8 supercharged V6s). They were just over $10/bottle.
3/16 allen wrench
A rag
1 small bowl or cup (to put old oil in)
about 6 inches of clear hose that will fit on the end of the syringe or turkey baster

First step is to make sure you have the right oil:

Next, locate the drain/fill plug

Using the allen wrench, remove the plug. It may be tight, so just be careful to not strip it.

I don't have any more pics for the rest since it's pretty self explanatory, but you feed the clear tube into the hole as far as possible and siphon out the old oil with whatever tool you choose. I had access to a pneumatic pump, so I used that to suck everything out. Put the old oil in a cup or bowl to dispose of later.

Once the JRSC is empty, you will have some old oil in the hose that you cannot get out. Purge the line with new oil to get the old out of the hose.

Keep filling the syringe with new oil and squirting it into the fill hole until it flows out like it did when you first removed the plug. If your clear hose is big enough, you can also just slide it over the tip of the supercharger oil bottle and squeeze it in. It has been a couple years since I last did this, so I don't know if the bottle design has changed or not. Should hold about 8oz or so... give or take. I've read that some people only put in 6oz. I personally used two bottles (4oz each). If you have small fingers, you can stick your pinky in the hole and feel the oil. Should be level with the bottom of the drain/fill hole.

Once the oil is flowing out freely and you cannot put anymore in, install the plug. Don't overtighten! Just snug.

It has been a couple years since I last did this, so hopefully I remembered everything correctly. Good luck.

About how often should you replace the oil?

If you used the good stuff as mentioned above... follow GM's recommended service intervals. If you use the lesser version of Synchromesh made by Pennzoil i would change it every 20k if your boosting 8psi and above.

does swapping the oil make it run smoother

having discussed the issue with Keith at moss motors years ago, I believe he did say it took 6oz. the sc has a 100k mile warranty so it is designed to run that long but replacing at every 50k could be a good thing. I would think every 20k is overkill but sending the unit off to be rebuilt would be costly so maybe no harm.

I figure I should put in my 2 cents before people start over filling their super chargers (even though it's been a year) . According to jackson racing guide you only need approx 3.8oz of SC fluid. Having to much fluid might cause pressure leaks. Here is the maintenance article from their site.

Just had a conversation with Moss motors on the supercharger because I am replacing the oil.
Correct amount is still 100-110 when drained/installed per the pdf instructions (3.8-4oz.).
Any oil is ok, GM stuff works.
Also, for anyone looking for a rebuild of their unit, go to http://www.psesuperchargers.com/Products/Jackson-Civic-Si-2002-2005.htm
Rebuild is $700
If calling Moss technical service department, ask for Blain Graham; he is the honda sc guru there.

Good update, as I'll replace mine with my charger sitting in a box off the car for five years after K24 install, so I'll follow JR advice to stand it on its end to drain correctly. Great site information as usual!

Great thread I’m pulling the engine out of my car this week so might as well change the oil before putting it back in.
