so i found this catback on ebay for $100 and i wondered if i could just use the midpipe section only

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Civic-SI-02-05-EP3-Catback-Exhaust-Muffler-Fire-Burn-Tip-System-JDM-Style-/180799664928?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2005|Model%3ACivic|Submodel%3ASi&hash=item2a187ff320&vxp=mtr

i figure its 100bucks and sure its prolly not as good quality as megan racing but it might be worth a try. just wondering if anyone else has tryed this or if i should be the lab rat to find out?

For that cheap, I would say it's going to have fitment issues. Do you have a race header?

Won't work - doesn't use an oem flange at the axleback to midpipe connection. All catback systems use different style flanges and angles. If you're trying to use this and your oem muffler - it's not going to work, unless you weld an oem flange onto it. Even then it may still not work, the pipe lengths might be different and it may not reach. If you just want a cheap catback, go for it.

the fitment is not so bad, I have a similar one for 3 years, but I recommend better this:

this is best if your car is lowered

Just go to an exhaust shop and have them weld a bigger mid pipe on. Why does it have to be pretty and polished? Thats what im going to do when i upgrade my exhaust.i have a full skunk2 but i wana to up the pipe size.its 2.25 now .Buy a universal sk2 or buddy club and fit it to a custom mid pipe mandrel bent. Itll be less than 100 for the mid pipe. And maybe 200 atmost for whatever muffler you decide on. And your still 200 or more cheaper than a bolt on unit and it wont hang as low or have rubbing issues. Just my opinion.

interesting^^^

also i would go custom too. find a cheap cheap muffler place that can make you a 2.5 catback with a quality resonator like vibrant, and use a NON CHAMBERED muffler on the end. vibrant has snazzy mufflers with the tips on them in black or polished.

exhausts with out cats get too loud and raspy. after making a catback, i would do this and a hi flow cat a race header. imthebro has a super sexy exhaust.

if you cant decide- go with a nice race header first. stock exhaust with a RH sounds good, and honestly you'll get a bigger bump in power from a header than a catback...

i took an ebay bbp midpipe and for 25 bucks a shop rotated and welded an aftermarket flange on there, obx raceheader, 100 dollars ebay midpipe, and stock muffler

sounds poopy but its low profile and cops dont bug you
