Alright guys, I have been doing a lot of looking around and still can't decide what wheels and tires to go with. Any help/opinions are welcome, and please post pics of ep's as examples of what you are talking about. I have coilovers so i can adjust height and i am also getting my fenders rolled before i put on whatever wheels i get. I AM ALSO 4 LUG.

Here is what I am looking for:

-not interested in any other size but 17"
-I want some fairly beefy tires because i am just starting my build and plan on going k24a2 in the very near future.
-i want the wheels to be semi flush. don't really want them very sunken in. (also not interested in "hellaflush")
-i DO NOT want to have to run spacers
-I don't want to stretch my tires very much if any at all.
-don't want to run much negative camber at all

i found some rota grids that are 17x9 +25 that i really like. i'm afraid i'll have to stretch my tire too much for those though. I really want some sport bronze 17" rota grids, but can't find a good width/offset combo. :mfrown:
Thanks guys.

p.s. i was also thinking about getting some j's racing front fenders. people say it adds an extra 25mm on each side. thoughts?

17x9 will be too big imo. 17x8 +35 tends to be the best size to be flush on an ep3. I have 17x7.5 +35 offset and it's almost flush. I have 225/45r17 tires so they're a bit beefy and would rub if I was trying to go flush with the wheel. So I think a 17x8 +35 wheel with a 215/45r17 would be perfect. A great combination of function and form...

Agree with the above ORRRRRR....
17x7 with a 40ish offset maybe a tad lower or higher, but about +40/+42 would be ideal with the aforementioned 225/45 tire. Very beefy, but still maintaining a good contact patch and that size tire is equivalent to the stock diameter.
I normally run a 16x7 +42 with a 225/50 Dunlop and that fills out the wells nicely and requires just a tad negative camber to be rub free. The 225/50r16 is equal to the 224/45r17. And because I prefer the look of a 17 on the EP, I picked up a used set of Rota's or Drags Slipstream looking wheel for cheap and that is the size I will be running myself.

How wide of tires do you to run is the question.

If you want to run 225/45 or 245/45. 17x8 +38 would sit flush or with 17x9 +35

Them 17x9 + 25 you can run 225/45 but I think it would rub if you run wider tires.
Check out the rpf1 crew thread or new wheel/ thread. It has wheel/tires spec and pictures on em.

Yeah. I have 17x8 +38 with 225/45/17 currently.

Here's a picture of mine when before i went back to stock suspension, -1.5 camber, 235/45/17 yokohama advans, rolled fenders
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k80/lbkiml/EP3/HX0Q0495.jpg

Nicely flush without any crazy camber or stretching tires, in my opinion..
I like the beefy tire look. Mine's not too beefy though.

thanks man. i looked through your member's ride thread and fell in love with your xxr 527 setup. what size tires were you running? 205/50? how much camber were you running? do you think i could pull off some 215's or 225's if i ran with a little higher ride height? i like your new setup too, but can't really find any wheels i am crazy about in those specs.

i would like to run 225. i haven't seen an ep3 with 245's! i bet that looks awesome! i've been looking through a LOT of wheels on here and clubep3 but am having a hard time finding a fitment that would be right for me and my roads. haha

that looks sick man! i looked for some wheels with similar specs but couldn't really find anything for 4 lug. those 235s are awesome. :mcool:

my ep is nhbp. i really want bronze wheels, but i can't really find many in 4 lug with good fitment.

Yep, 205/50. I had -3.5* camber in the rear and -1.5* in the front. Kinda stupid now that I look back at it. I wouldn't suggest running anything 215 or 225 as the offset on those would make it hard to fit the tires with the car. 205/45r17 would be the perfect size for those wheels I think. Even if you raised the car up it would look mexi-flush imo with the 215's or 225's

Yeah, that's what I figured. They only make those wheels with +35 for 5 lug. Are you running much negative camber with your current wheels? I'm getting kind of annoyed because I can't find many 17" wheels for 4 lug. :/

I'm running close to stock camber for right now until winter is over. I think it's -1* rear and -.5* front right now. I plan on lowering my car another inch or so during spring. My camber then would probably be around -2* or -2.5* in the rear and -1* or -1.5* in the front

Haha I was planning on doing that a while back, but the guy fell through. I want to get a 5 lug swap with some type r bremos, but I'm tired of rocking these stock 15s. Haha I already purchased my coilovers so I just need 4 lug wheels+tires for the time being.

No rub, the rear fenders are rolled, the front fenders are not. I'm not slammed by any means, but i am running a alignment of -3.5F and -2.5R of camber which i very much like, but might be too aggressive for some.

A little more camber in the front than I'd like, but it looks really beefy!

You don't need that much camber in the front, I just choose to run those specs, you can get most likely away with -1 or -2 or so since the front fenders have more room.

i had 17x7.5 +45 torques in silver. it was my first set of wheels, so i went by the recommendation of the guy from rota. it was a safe fitment and they didnt make torques in 17x8 +35 4x100 at the time. but no camber kit required to make them fit

Yeah, they look great, but I'm just not crazy about them. I'm going to keep looking for about another week before I decide. Or maybe I should buy one of those sets of type R bremos on eBay and do a 5 lug swap to get some wheels I will love.
