View Full Version : What else can I do!?

I'm running out of ideas of what I can do to help my ep handle better. I've done a decent amount and wondering what other mods would be worth it?
Current mode are
Buddy club N+ coilovers
Front and rear camber kit
RSX-S 21mm rear sway bar
Mr. Alex rear strut bar
Mr. Alex C-pillar brace

I'm getting wider wheels (17x8 with sticky 245 tires), more aggresive alignment, corner weighted.

What else can I do that will actually make a difference?

Seat time.

else, look at softening or removing the front anti-roll bar and retuning the spring rates around that.

RCA's, stiffer bushings all around, DC5-R bracing. There's still a decent amount of things you can do Pete

Hmm time to bite into the DC5-R chassis and see what I can use, I was planning to get the energy bushing kit in the summer but I don't want it to be too stiff to drive on our shitty roads haha

Here's the two threads on the DC5-R bracing:

http://forums.clubep3.com/showthread.php?t=676396
All I'm missing is the connecting bar for the rear and the aluminum floor bar. You could also go for the DC5-R aluminum front LCA's, I remember reading somewhere that they add some caster which is something that this chassis is lacking in.

As far as the bushings, I was looking into the hardrace hardened rubber bushing kit instead of the energy suspension kit. Energy suspension bushings are polyurethane and they will get eaten up by all the road salt that gets used here in Chicago and surrounding areas. Plus polyurethane requires maintenance, hardened rubber does not.

Thanks Orlando! Any noticeable difference between the hardened rubber and polyurethane?

What kind of tires are you getting?. Your suspension is only as good as the tires. Weight reduction makes a huge difference. Caster; sub frame washers, caster plates, Type R lca, solid offset lca bushings.

I believe polyurethane is a little stiffer but the hardened rubber will last much longer.
Listen to Hasbro too, he know his shit

Listen to Zzyzyx, he really knows his doodoo!

If you're talking crappy streets, try tuning as soft as possible or in a year or two you'll be sick of stiff. Lighten unsprung weight as much as possible, lower psi , etc. You can pull 60 or 70 lbs. off the EP's unsprung- I've pulled 62 . I have a street I test on that has patches on top of patches and the Ep can barely navigate it on full stiff and higher psi but is pretty decent on full soft and lower psi. You can have a $10,000.00 suspension but if it's not tuned to your roads it can be worthless. So, think carefully about bushings and braces and big bad ass springs that many think they need.

Edit; I'm not saying braces, bushings and heavier springs aren't viable but softer can be good on the street.

Edit; The next set of tires will add 4 lbs. to my unsprung weight :mcry:....

... but they will have a lower diameter so a smaller rotational mass.:bounce:

For the most part where I go for spirited driving, the roads are pretty good actually, and I totally get what you mean. This thread is full of win! Thanks guys!

Having both Zzyzx and Hasbro respond to your thread is pretty awesome lol and the RS-3's are http://forums.clubrsx.com/images/smilies/drool.gif

Hah, not even close! I just wing it from the other side of the brain and sometimes get it right. Zzyzyx and SHG_Easy (and some others) understand the engineering and actual applied stuff. Read all you can by these guys and Mustclimb on ClubEP3 and several others on CubRSX.

So what else do you recommend doing knowing what tires I'm getting?

RCAS make a difference
look for a neuspeed or d3 front x bar.
asr subframe brace.
my buddy has type r front lcas pretty noticable difference from stock IMO

stiff/ soft settings make a difference too. try different settings on different runs. I like my setup soft. if im to stiff i lose traction in the rear.

the real question should be.... How's the car handling now? because with out a baseline assessment, we're just guessing.
