I just got a 02Si and i am trying to decide if I should get the CTR bumpers and lip kit, GC coilovers and some kind of rotas or just get some GC coilovers and do a K20A2 swap. Please help me decide and give me your opinions. Thanks

Get the swap. I was debating between the two options as well and decided the swap would be better. My decision was mostly influenced when a RSX-S spanked the shit out of me one night.

I'd do the kit, then swap once you've got more miles out of your
engine. Like when the warranty is closer to ending.

Instead of swappin a K20A2 I would save up and sway a K20A... Yum.....

If you're eventually going to do a swap, then you should just go with the kit and do a swap in couple years. You'll be able to get used K20A2 for like 25 hundred in 1 or 2 more years, or you can just swap K20A right now for 5 grand. Now that's the motor that's really worth the money. Just with few basic modes K20A can smoke stock S2000.

if you have that much money just go for a dc5r just the swap alone boosts you to 240hp, same as s2000, I would wait and do the swap later after a couple years on the engine.

bwaaaaaaaaaa(6000RPM)WAAAAAAAAAAA(8500rpm)

I believe you know where my opinion rests. Do the choice you know you'll be having more fun with, esp w/ a hondata reflashed ECU and some basic bolt ons. RSX-Ss trapping at damn near a hundred is good news for the K series.

p.s. Port...man you have no idea how jealous I am of you:'( . That is a huge deal!!! You're gonna be having alotta fun with that...congrats man :)

someone with a RSX-S was doing a K20A swap, and put up the offer on here. PoRT just happened to pick it up before anyone else. that bastard.

I started obsessing over the k20a2 for a while - then I was like...wait a damn minute. I bought a civic si - I should use the engine it has in it otherwise nobody is going to know what it can do. All the hardcore civic si'ers are slammin k20a2's....we need people sticking to the k20a3 so we can see how fast we can get it to - why ditch a engine that just came out? I say get that kit - then wait bro...you wont regret it......its not like the k20a3 is slow, there is more than enough power. :*

modern-perf

there is more than enough power

If that was true then none of us "hardcore Si'ers" would swap the A2 in. The K20A2 is just a better foundation to start with. 40 extra horsepower and REAL VTEC makes a big difference.

Dunrick

You didn't exactly wait to see what the SI can do - we have what...headers, intakes, exhausts, tb's? I'm sure there are a few other things - I'm not knocking the a2's in any ways - there are times where I TOO would like one.....they are a better performing engine.....it just seems a little early to decide whether we should get them - with the compression in the a3, FI will respond very well...might see more gains than on a a2 - while they still might have more power....but we will have more power till 6000rpms - let me make it clear that I dont want to start some homo flame war here, maybe I'm just jealous in a way - but I'm also concerned about every kid on here already wanting a new engine, when ours just came out....:(

StrangeShadow

I'm a college kid some when it comes to engine mods those are just "wet dreams"
I figure I'm going to just keep the engine for now and mod the interrior plus exterrior, and when the oem suspension and engine start falling apart due to commuting I'll start with suspension and then a k2 by then might be ale toafford it :D
But I still think everyone who actually has that kind of money and has/or is doing a swap, are too cool and fast for me:cool:

StrangeShadow
01-28-2003, 07:58 PM
oh yeah! although fun!! our si i-vtech does kind of suck kicking in at 2,5k rpms. "modern perf" can tell you about the diff. if/when yo gt a real i-v-tech

StrangeShadow

Trippz,
what did they put in that rsx-s if they took out the k20a2?
a dc5r?
is that street legal?

I always had a hard time understanding why people would make a costly performance upgrade to be faster, and then slap on a bunch of weight-adding plastic trim. I say never get the kit......stay fast!
