I was wondering if part #H1540-PR3-408 fits our cars. I heard that if the filter is too big, it might rub up against the right inner CV joint, making a hole. I'm just about to do my first oil change and any info on this would be great.

Isn't Hamp the name of the ones Spoon uses??? I think so but can't remember now.

HAMP is Honda After-Market Parts and is an actual product/brand of Honda Japan.

HAMP oil filters are higher quality and performance over the standard Honda filters and are commonly used by race teams in Japan (including Spoon).

We use them exclusively on our own cars and our customers' cars. Good stuff :)

Can you get them at the dealer or what??

Is it a better flow rate?
Do you guys stock them for EP3?

I keep hearing good things about these filters but wanna know which size or part number we should use for our EP3s. I know that they make two sizes.

Either size is ok for use on the EP3. Some people/teams use the smaller filter to help increase oil pressure on track.

Yes, we have them in stock :)

I am aware of three different HAMP filters imported to the US - a large one (H1540-PR3-408), a medium one (H1540-POH-004), and a small one (H1540-PFB-004). The medium one has the same dimensions as the EP3/RSX OEM filter and is the one I used. The small one is the same diameter as the medium one, but 1/2" shorter. I was told by one supplier that the medium filter has been replaced by the smaller filter. Some people claim that the smaller filter will increase oil pressure by a few psi. In fact, many run these on their B16 and B18 engines to minimize oil pressure drop at the VTEC engagement point. Since the K20A3's i-VTEC engages at 2000 rpm, I wonder what value increased oil pressure has with this engine, and is there any detrimental effect. I have switched to K&N oil filter (1010 - same size as stock) until I can find the medium HAMP filter.
