2003 ep3(K20a3) 70mm Hybrid Racing k series TB:
This TB is being matched up with a skunk2 70mm IM and V2 intake.
My mechanic (http://forums.clubep3.com/showthread.php?p=40671071#) can't get the idle lower than 11-1200 rpm.
How can I get the idle lowered to where it needs to be?
Thanks.

1. check how tight your throttle cable is in the bracket- if it is too tight then it is holding the butterfly open slightly.
2. is the TPS set correctly?
3. there is an idle adjustment screw under the throttle bracket, 10mm jam nut 3mm allen head set screw.
4. IACV installed? clean? yes then in KPRO- idle tab, IACV duty cycle, turn it down a couple clicks.

or... vacuum leak.

i have a 74mm- took a bit of tinkering to get the idle to sit at 1000rpm-1050rpm. playing with the throttle cable, idle set screw, properly calibrating the TPS, and finally adjusting the IACV duty cycle.

No K-Pro installed ...yet...
Everything else checks out, no leaks.

Did u re use the same gaskets or did u replace em? I would use the search function. theres a lot of threads in vacum leaks due to intake manifolds. And on why an intake manifold is pointless unless Ur making big hp. I remember a huge thread on skunk2 being bashed on here for there intake manifold. U might want to look into that

Quick search turned this up.

Is this on an a3?

You're going to be losing torque and possible hp from that intake manifold, sadly to say.

Going off his post it says just a v2 intake no kpro. Would hate to see him spend all this money to lose power

Wouldn't he be running dangerously lean if he had a race header since he has no way to adjust his fuel.

Thanks for all the info, A3 with 70mm IM & TB & V2. Shorty header & cat back 60mm.
I added the 70mm Hybrid Racing k series TB last and that's when the idle is at 11-1200 rpm.
Looking around it looks like the only way to get the idle down is to go K-Pro.
Any help would be appreciated

You are also not going to get any benefit from a 70mm tb and a better intake mani if you are still using a shorty header. Also you would need to upgrade to 310cc injectors from an rsx type s. K Pro of course, no matter what.

He's right. U need to be making some good power to see any benefit from that manifold. Ur better off going back to stock

no KPRO... your high idle is the least of your worries. but none the less your question is regarding the idle- and from my end, if you are positive you have no vacuum leaks, then it is the throttle body. It is a big aftermarket throttle body- you need to remember that. since you dont have kpro- play with the throttle cable, and the idle set screw, and make sure your TPS is set properly.

no kpro.. put your stock one back on.. and wait .. lol you can't see your TPS values. Kpro allows you to do that and also calibrate it.

use a multimeter- there are set voltages at closed and wide open throttle.

Nice to see you Blah1219 (http://www.ephatch.com/forum/member.php?8429-Blah1219) ....thanks for the info, it's all good now that the K-Pro and tune are done.
The car is running good for now ... After the tune I'm at 167whp and 138 torque. So that's not too bad. The big bore IM and TB did just fine. I'm doing a K24a2 swap real soon and I'm sure they will do better on that engine. These bolt-ons should work well with that engine.
