I've decided to not go 5 lug right now.(too much work) So i was thinking of going on 16" or 17"so but i wanna pull off a nice reverse staggered stance....keeping a 4 lug setup. I was thinking along the lines of 245 front and 225rear....i'll obviously get 2 sets of tires.

There's not much options for 16" wheels wider than 8" or tires wider than 225mm for 16". I would suggest picking up some 16x8 +38 RPF1's and just going either 225/50 or 225/45 all around

Yea it's tough, if i go as high as 245 on 16" could it work?

Which 245 tire are you thinking? There aren't many to choose from and most are track tires. Tomorrow I'm ordering Toyo RA1 245/45/16s. They are the next step beyond Extreme Summers, and have 9.4" tread. They can be mounted on 8" but that's still pretty small. You'd have to pull the fenders a little, which is easy.

The BFG Rival or Dunlop ZII in 225/50/16 would be the top choice for 16 x 8 for street. Better yet would be RA1 225/50/16 but there are compromises such as fast tread wear.

I have 16 x 8.5 Kosei K1s but they are discontinued. It took a lot of looking but I found a pristine set. 16 lbs. The RPF1s in 8' are excellent.

Thank you both!! Hasbro i was thinking of getting dunlop zii. If im looking for a reverse staggered what would you reccomend? Would i need to camber?

My Kumhos were one of the top dogs 3 or 4 years ago with Star Specs (ZIs) almost as good and a better all around tire. The ZII is about 2 steps more improved than the Kumhos. They wear well (for Extreme Summers), are good in wet and dry, drivers love how they feel. One weakness is that they are peaky at max adhesion, meaning they let go all of a sudden compared to the Rivals, which are more predictable and have a broader range at max adhesion on a graph, if you know what I mean. Want to win nationals? Rival. Best all around Extreme Summer? ZII. As a comparo, I mentioned the Toyo RA1, which is illegal in the street categories but it handles better in the dry (it's a track tire). But RA1s have to compete against the likes of Hoosiers so as an autox tire they get trounced.

Camber is absolutely essential to handling. Without it, you might as well use snow tires. Caster is also huge for our EPs but that's another topic.

I haven't looked at the choices for staggering but it's pretty simple. It's an excellent method for handling. Read SHG-EasyE's thread. He's a race car builder and you'll love his set up. Long but worth it and the staggered specs are on the first post; http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?53758-The-2nd-Chapter-Easy-s-02-SSM

Edit; it just dawned on me that I'm going staggered with 245/45/16s and the old Kumho 225/50s for a while. You don't want to follow my set ups, though, as I'm always trying different stuff out. The Kumhos will be replaced soon by one of many options, lol.

Edit; PoeticFinesse also mentioned 225/45s. That was to be my choice until switching to Toyos. They lower your car by 1/2" without dropping the suspension, better performance gearing of 4.9 final, quicker steering, etc. The negative is speedometer error.

Ebay camber plates, it says caster too but I'm not sure if you can adjust it with these. Ask 27rocks, he has them on his EP3.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they look like camber plates that, if switched to opposite sides, would be half caster and half camber at the same time.

You should just run spacers on your fronts and get the same sized tires and wheels all the way around. That way you can rotate your tires properly, have the benefit of a wider front track, and have the reverse stagger "look".

how would the "spacers look" actually look? got a pic?

What have you been trying to find?

16x8 with any offsets between 30you and 38 for the front and 16x7 or 7.5 with any offset between 40-48. Although i was looking at rpf1's and the other enkei's to see if i could get a pair in 16x8 and one in 16x7

Okay so new layout; gimme an input, will it fit?
Front:16x8+38
im thinking either 225 for tires or 235
Rear:16x7+43
either 215 or 225 depending on what i get in the front

hasbro i found that the enkei's are actually in that size, i can find them most likely

That'll work. I'm not aware of any 235s in a 16.

What will you be doing with the EP? Dd, autox? ZIIs in a 225/50 or 225/45 are nice but what about up front? In a ZII, you might want a 225 also.

This is just my opinion, but with a 225, if you stagger them, then you are looking at a 205 up front with even less adhesion than the 225s. 225s are about as small a tire you would want for grip. You can adjust the rear's 225 for grip with psi, alignment, etc.

With the ZIIS, I would go 225/50 or 225/45 all around. If you are mostly performance minded, the 45s would re-gear your final drive from 4.7 to 4.9 (Type R is 5.1), reduce rotational mass 1/2" and drop the car 1/2" without reducing spring travel. Throws your speedo off one or two miles - big whoop.

How many miles a year will you drive?

Anyway, you are on the right track. Are there any 17x8, 8.25, 8.5 4 bolt wheels available?

Hmm okay. Well if i'd stagger then i'd go bigger in the front, for the reverse stagger. I just realized i made no sense. I think 225 all around may just be my fate.

Sorry, I said 205 up front but meant in the rear. I'm sure there are guys on here running 225/205 and I'm sure it works well and would be a good nimble selection. And nimble can out handle a higher grip selection. I'm still not sure exactly what you want to do anyway.

Oh, maybe the plates Poetic mentioned might be worth a try. I do know of a pair of Hotchkis plates that are for sale, too.

Some 16x8 +38 RPF1's wrapped with 225/45R16 ZII's would be perfect :mtongue:

If your car is a dd i would get Yokahomo s-drives or bfg G-force comp 2.. I never felt safer or more grip with these two. Theyre great for dry and wet. They also great for dd and auto x. I like the G-force more since it has less noise. The s-drives tends to have some when I'm making hard turns
