I just got through pulling out a motor that is or should i say was in the process of getting built but due to the discovery of the sleeve, it wont no more.

I kinda want to have an open discussion on what we found and what could've caused the issue to the sleeve. And is this fixable.

This motor came out of a base rsx with an auto tranny completely stock!!

Is it possible abad head gasket could cause this over time? I'd sleeve the block. Might as well go big now.

Sleeve? On an A3 block? Hardly worth it....

Make a coffee table out of it LOL! My friend did that with an old Chevy 454 shortblock that throw a rod. Always makes a great conversation piece.

Yea so far on the other 3 sites I posted this everybody is calling the coolant being the cause of the rot.

So becarefull my ephatch brothas, always use the Honda stuff.

What's wrong with sleeves on an a3 block if your going to build it? Isn't the a3 block the same as the a2 minus the oil squirters? And people plug those anyway to keep the oil pressure up.

I know the a3 has a different rotating assembly.

That's the point. You'd have to source everything from a K20A2/Z1/Z3 minus the bare block to make it useable. Odds are you're going to find those together as a shortblock and by that time you might as well work that block and not the A3.

Well if your going to to get something like weisco pistons and some hbeam rods to build it it would seem worth it to me atleast.
