There are MANY threads floating around about this topic, however all of the images of the install and/or the wiring diagrams are broken. Does anyone have the wiring diagram needed for the conversion? I plan to create a new DIY for this project when I do it - any help is really appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for this info, I'm about ready to do this tonight. Let's hope this doesn't take too much effort.

Now to aiming the depos...

have anybody modified their wiring harness from moonsi headlight kit with the 1n4001 diode to run hi/lo beam? I love to have them both working but scare i will mess something up.

do you need to get the wire harness if your running HID's? or do you just plug them right in?

That's going to depend on a lot of factors and I'd need more information about what you're planning and how you're doing it to answer.

The short answer is no you can't just "plug them in." Plug and play kits as advertised tend to be the least expensive and least helpful route, you'll often end up blinding other drivers or getting tickets for poorly aimed HID's just because you wanted to look like the guys from fast and furious.

The correct way to do HID's is to retrofit projectors that are made to focus the light from the HID bulb to the ground in a proper fashion with a real cutoff. This is not a 70 dollar endeavor.

The plug and play route that's offered by many online retailers still requires a wiring harness of some sort. In many cases you'll need a relay to switch the ballasts on and off using the stock light switch, and the rest of the harness pulls power for the ballasts from the battery on a fused connection to prevent surges killing the ballast. There are maps of this setup somewhere around here, but I'm currently at work.

icic but if they fit perfectly on my 03 headlights it still wont be good to go on 04-05's?

They use different bulbs and setups. The 04/05 housing uses two bulbs separately for high and low beams, while the 02/03 use a single bulb for both high and low. So essentially, no.

One more question for the wiring gurus:

On a conversion from 04/05 to 02/03 what wire actually runs the hi/low beams? My dilemma is that I have low beams but no hi beams. When I flip "intermittent" hi beams on, it just turns on my low beams. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

On the 02/03, the power is shared by the lights and the ground is split, so that when you ground the low beam it comes on (see the graphic above that distinguishes "low ground" and "high ground" vs the "12v" that they both get). I'm not sure what kind of setup you're using but knowing that might help you track down the issue.

So is it normal that the high and low beams dont turn on at the same time? I just got a 2003 with the facelift headlamps, and they do this cant figure out how to fix it, when i thought i did i noticed that the low beams would dim a lot
