There are a few aftermarket fender choices out there. Carbon fiber, J's Racing 20mm, and a bunch of ricer widebody kits.
I want something different, Then again I always want to be different. So, i have came to the conclusion that i will make my own.

I will be making widebody style front fenders. Hoping the end product will look something like this.

http://www.carid.com/images/extreme-dimensions/body-kits/duraflex/duraflex-honda-s2000-2009-ams-widebody-front-fenders-5.jpg

They wont stick out that far but they will be open vented as shown, minus the crazy shit going on at the bottom.

Here is the drawings I came up with. The vented gap will be about 1 inch.

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x240/StraightEpPower/df39e27c-ea8a-4a1c-8c5b-3dd3c14fcc20_zpsb1650811.jpg

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x240/StraightEpPower/20131025_203849_zpsfdf9428e.jpg

I will be modifying the oem fenders into them. Once complete I will make a mold and make a set out of fiberglass.

If all goes well i will be making another custom duckbill wing to fit to my collection.

Let the journey begin.:wavey:

I like the J's Racing fenders, but I feel like the side vent ruins it. So, it will be solid but vented on the door side.

Fuck. Yes.

I'm hoping to make 3 at the most. Since the base with be made out of fiberglass, I'm hoping to have a Carbon fiber set, Kevlar set, and a paint matching set. We will see once the mold is made on if i will produce for others.

So an update on the fenders. I only had about and hour to work on the driver side today.

I pulled the lip out and roughly formed it for the wide fender flare.

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x240/StraightEpPower/20131027_212151_zps53224d49.jpg

You can see i pulled the body line out of the fender from the middle towards the end. I left the line towards the front so it will still line up with the front bumper smoothly.

Next weekend I will do the same to the passenger side. I hope to extend and shorten the brackets that will provide the vent, and grind off the fender lining mounting points.

I really need to fix the cut-offs on my 04-05 CTR headlights, so i can ditch these. I should do that instead of this fender project lol.

Going to look sick. How wide are you looking to run?

I have a simple set up that really isn't to extreme right now. I put on my 15mm spacers on and it was impossible to move the car. My wheel gap was the thickness of the metal part on our keys. This will hopeful move it out of the "danger zone". I do plan on getting something by 9 in the future. Might as well get prepared for it now.

I will be working on them tonight and the rest of the weekend. I will post progress picture and updates. Stay tuned!

Yes, That is what i'm looking for. The flare is pretty extreme on that tho. I'm debating on if i want to keep it flush above that body line.

Finish re-working the passenger side. I sanded off the clear coat on both and start fill & fairing them out. I'm hoping to have the shaping finished by this weekend. Shitty pics i know. I will get better ones today.

That's what I'm doing except I left them on the car to get width correct and also because I'm lazy. What body filler are you using?

I tried to take a photo but camera says I'm out of memory. I thought the computer erased everything, damnit. Anyone know what I should do? Any way, I pulled the lip out for more fender (7/16") but it will require some small pieces of sheet metal to make continuous. I was thinking of brazing instead of welding but haven't researched it. I figure with brazing I can change the shape if I don't like it.

Here's an old pic;

I'm using 404 High-Density Filler from west systems. It's a high strength filler used on boat and airliners.

For now I'm just fairing out the lumps from the rough shaping. Once that is out of the way ill do a mock up and start getting the even shape together.

I see, You pushed the body line in to push out the lip. I thought about going that route but i felt like it was going to throw the transition from the bumper to the fender off. What i did is i beat the body line out more and about an inch above it for the flare. Near the bumper i left the oem body line but slowly blended it into the flare.

Pics for reference:

No, The body line is only slightly pushed in at the end there. I will hammer it smooth and pull it some more. The front bumper will eventually also be a couple of inches wider. I bent the 1 1/4" flat edge of the fender to the same angle of the curved fender. I muscled the curved portion (the whole fender) out about 1 1/2" so the angle doesn't change, instead the whole fender sort of puffs out if you get my meaning. I tried to keep the fender at the door line in instead of pulled in case I want to cut that fender section to push it in several inches for air flow (Gurney flap).

This will be enough for a 3" wider track and the extra tire width, about 2" each side iirc.

Appreciate all the pics! It's nice to see someone else doing fender work and you seem to actually know what you are doing, lol!

Honestly, I'm just using what I know from work and a little bit from the internet. Compare to what i do i work sometimes, this is pretty easy. I make interior bin compartments for major airliners from scratch to finish product. So, laying fiberglass, using filler, and prepping for paint is an everyday thing for me.

Nope not yet on the vent. I think i want to push it out more maybe 10mm or 15mm.

I would like to upgrade to something 17x9. Cause like Monjarassi said on a different forum, we really wont know how the fitment of the flare is until a wider wheel is mounted.

but if i could add my 2 cents if you don't mind i think you should roll it higher up rather than in the middle like that rsx... it would most definitely make it look better and not so un aligned when it comes to the lines cause that rsx probably looks like a circle from the rear lol

Hey, Thanks guys.
I was pretty disappointment last night that it didn't turn out the way i was hoping. I will be returning this back to how they were, they were fine before IMO. I am currently looking for new fenders to do the flair lip to. The problem with these is that i widened them while retaining the OEM look. The lip flair was just to much. SO , now i will be making two types of custom fenders. OEM flair style and Lip flair. Both will still be vented.

Thanks again guys for the positive comments. Stay tune!
