so im making my own intake and will 2.5inch pipe be ok? I dont want it to choke up but seeing how the tb is only 64mm there is no real "choke point" will 2.5inch be enough?

Go 3 inch while your at it. Kinda like the hybrid cold/short intake that goes under the battery tray .

T, once I went with the oversized air filter, I really like my 2.5" cai. It's really torquey and streetable. The K20A3 is basically stock with the cai and Re-Flash. At what point will I need a 3"? After K Pro and exhaust? Asking here as it applies.

I heard it's best to just go 3" right off the bat and it's not like it hurts performance at first if you go 3".

Well I bought 3rd generation Eclipse cold air intake. The piping is 2.5 inch and came with the K&N filter. I know some of the ports on there for the idle air control valve and PCV valve but I'll just wind up drilling holes and screwing and fittings. After mocking it up its almost Direct Fit once I get done I'll try to post pics

There's a lot of back and forth over intake design length and diam. Each has their advantages(Velocity, pulses, throttle response). Truth is they're all within a few hp of each other. I have a JRSC, so I chose the 3" with that in mind. Someone bought a lot of Fujita 3 inch CAI tubes only. At $60 it's a steal. Just had to buy a coupler and filter. I ran it for a few weeks NA and I loved it. Super throaty. Felt way better vs my old aem V2.

2.5 should get you by just fine. In my case I was purchasing a CAI and it was the best I could find. The eBay 2.5 CAI probably would work just as good under most circumstances. But for that extra little bit- go 3".

Your intake looks great btw! Pshh can't beat it for $20. What EP short rams look like anyways. How does it sound?

Funny- I once had a 3G eclipse and ended up buying a honda CAI to try and make a short ram. Mine didn't turn out so well. But my cousin and I fit it on his escort somehow lol.

It sounds great at wot, at part you really can hear it. I just need to replace the filter asap

pretty sure this mod is just for noise, the stock air box has a larger intake than this after market thing you put on there. pretty sure you are reducing size after the throttle body , not the best for performance,
