please read first. Ok so me and my friend both have a k24a2 in our ep3s. Both k24s run and sound fine but open removal for clutch changing we noticed they both have some crank end play.... here are 2 shirt clips of each motor, both have slight slight movement and clicking when flywheel is moved, the video of the 08 k24 is low quality so you cant here it well but they sound the same. I know the tollerance is .45 mm. Should we just keep driving since they run fine? They both sound grest as well. Anyone else see this? They were both automatics

Odds are its wear on the thrust washers... which is odd if its excessive in the automatic (more common on manuals with heavy pressure plate clutches).

Use a straight edge on the end of the crank and measure (digital calipers) its relation to the same spot on the block with the crank pushed in and out. That should give you a general idea how much end play you have... and if you need to do anything.

Piggy backing on Dave's post, the only way to get crank end play like you mentioned is from super heavy clutches during dry starts.

The way to prevent this is to disconnect or disable the clutch input sensor so you don't need to push the clutch in to start the engine.

Well, since the video is private, it pretty much does no use to us at all.

I would say that that is bad and needs fixed if its like your describing it.

My K20A3 had over 200,000 miles on it and the crank did not move one iota.
