Ive got 245/40/17 +35 (up front), I have zero rubbing issues. When these wear out I am going to run a 255. The front fenders might have to be flared slightly, but im pretty sure there is room. The only place i think a 255 will rub is the inner fender liner when the streering is maxed out.

Yeah, they are big honkers. You'd really have to have a reason to wear them. 275s are slicks only but the 255s could be used for (1) forced induction/big hp cars like Monji's or for (2) maximum cornering or for (3) guys who want the look. They are heavy, more expensive, reduce mpgs, and could actually slow you down if used incorrectly. And you need to match the suspension to them for cornering as the increased traction requires bigger springs.

The nice factor about them is there are so many to choose from. They are all around 25" diameter but range from 9-10" in tread width and they are available in most types of categories; Extreme Summers to All Seasons.

You can get 245 16s or 17s, up to 9.4" tread and some 235s are nice, too, but they all have smaller diameters than 25". I prefer a smaller diameter but most people don't.

I would love to see someone with 225+ whp slap some 10" treads on their EP....

I'm sure it's been done before and I bet there are pictures floating around somewhere. I'd love to go 255 but like you mentioned, it may not be practical for all purposes. I'm at 225 right now to stay in STF class for auto-x but when I cross over to STX, I'm going to look at 245 for sure

I can't recall any on EPs. A bunch of them are on RSXes.

255's with some sexy fender work would be nice :mwink:

I guess he's the only one. He's listed with 255/40/17s but I don't see Hankook listing that size.

255's will fit up front with no issues. Might need to run around -2.5 to -3 of camber, but that's good camber imo. Especially if you're using it for corners.

I personally don't want them but hopefully this will encourage their consideration. Best cornering street tire for 25" diameter.

I remember when you were playing around with fitting tires. There was a small contingent of experimenters doing the same.

So the Fepmeister has Hankook RS3 255/40s and SHG_Easy_E might be going to ZII 255/40s.

Hasbro, check these out:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/201030183666?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I'll be buying them if I don't get outbid. I have my close friend fabricator that will be fitting them onto my EP.

I will be going 255/40's after this year. I ordered the 245/45's because I wanted to see how much more I will need from my current 215/40's. Also, I'm gonna need at least 17x8.5 or 9 before I can fit that wide of a tire.

Don't know how I missed this post earlier. Good transition move with the 245s. Go for those fenders! Especially for the 255s. They will get you where you want to go quickly. If you don't like them, sell them later. Some people don't like them but I love them. And there isn't a better over the counter remedy and look great to me. Hope you get them! <---Lots of thems.
