Hey guys! I just got done the cosmetic stuff to my car that I would want to do but next I want to focus on bolt on performance upgrades.

So far I have the K&N Typhoon CAI and the Magnaflow Exhaust system

http://www.ebay.com/itm/02-05-Honda-Civic-SI-Hatchback-EP3-MagnaFlow-Cat-Back-Exhaust-15757-/250966598590

This is the one that I have..

I'm wondering will the DC Sports Racing Headers fit on this? Do I have to buy anything extra?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-SPORTS-RACING-MANIFOLD-HEADER-EXHAUST-02-05-HONDA-CIVIC-Si-EP3-HB-2-0L-K20A3-/190735482031?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c68b87caf&vxp=mtr

Thank you in advance!

do you have the catback system installed yet? if you do how do you like the sound? i like the dual tip look of that keeping the stock styling. i was looking at the megan racing axelback with a custom midpipe, but if yours soundsgood, that may be the better option

With the Typhoon CAI and the Magnaflow it sounds great. That's why I'm really wanting to get headers because it should make it a lot louder and throatier.

Anyone know if installing headers will make a significant improvement on the sound of my car?

depends what you get. Dont waist your time on a shorty header. A race header will make a noticeable difference.

I have it. Its not loud. But I also have a twin loop so its hard to say.

You have the DC sports racing header? I was going to get the 4-2-1. What's the twin loop?

With any race header and performance exhaust your car is going to be very loud. You will gain some HP from the raceheader, but your deep tone will get very raspy. Best bet is to install a bigger resonator on your cat-back system.

The twin loop is a style of muffler. The piping passes through the muffler once, wraps around and pass through a second time. When done right they sound great and perform very well.

Thank you Deadphishy! Do I need anything else for the install? I heard somewhere that I might need engine mounts or something..

You rock!

True engine mounts (AVID or hasport) or engine mount inserts (ESSM). Stay away from the ETD (engine torque dampner).

Thank you for the reply Virus... do i HAVE to have engine mounts for the header install? They're like $200 and I'm already forking out $370 for the DC Race headers. I baby the crap out of my car and dont drive it that hard just want it to sound good.

To save you another $100 I rather go with the OBX Race Header vers 2 than the DC Race Header or spend more and go with the Kid Racing Race Header but yes, for insurace, true motor mounts are recommended but if you can't get that, the ESMM inserts are something to look for temporary and is cheaper.

Why exactly are the ESMM inserts recommended? From my research they stop wheel popping or whatever but I don't drive my car that hard. After some research I think I will be going with the OBX v2 headers .. $100 less than DC's.. they have gotten good reviews too. I think DC just charges you extra for the name like designer jeans lol.

ESMM are cheaper than the motor mounts. There's many other reasons but one is that the engine rocks back and forth so without the inserts or motor mounts you'll be hearing the obnoxious banging from the race header hitting the front sway bar. But if you dont drive your car hard, you probably have a small chance of no banging without it.

Thanks a lot man looks like I can get some for like $40. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ENERGY-MOTOR-ENGINE-TORQUE-MOUNT-BUSHINGS-INSERTS-ACURA-RSX-HONDA-CIVIC-SI-EP3-/230621548270?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b21d8eee&vxp=mtr are these the right ones?

Thank you!

Yeah those are correct. Remember these are temporary and they will tear on the long run but since you dont drive your car hard you should be fine.

Thank you so much Virus for your input. You da man!

Looks like I'm getting those motor mount inserts and the OBX v2 header. Is the fitment pretty spot on? I have the magnaflow cat back exhaust system.. any special tools I might need? I think the pipe is like 2.5''.

It is a replica so the fitment is not perfect. Although i didn't have any issues with mine at all, some people had issues where it was banging the front strut bar but it never happend to me. When I sold it to a buddie on here (J00000stin), he was swapped with a K24 and he didn't have any issues with the fitment either. No special tools. 2.5" is fine for this motor. You don't need anything bigger than that until you go turbo or SC.

For 200 more you can get a plm which probably will flow better..imo...I had the v2...and got more power from the plm.

I agree, for $200 more plm is better.

My boy had the plm on his dc5 and had problems so he switch to dcrh which isn't the best idea but I never had any issues with my obx v2 ;)

Alright guys I'm excited! About to order my first racing headers! going with http://www.sparktecmotorsports.com/h11087bs.html

Does anyone know about this website? It's by far the cheapest even compared with ebay. Are these the V2 of the OBX? Doesn't say

Thanks.

So do you think those are the right ones? I'm assuming the flex pipe is that little piece to the left of the actual header. I just emailed them asking them if they were 100% that they would fit my car. I'm so excited!
