Hey guys tried searching the forums and didn't really see anything pertaining to my question..

A new proud owner of a super clean 03 with 123k miles.. pretty much my first "nice" car.

My friend is a master technician at a dealership and inspected the car. He says its SUPER clean but we did preventative
maintenance

So far we... switched over to synthetic mobil 1 extended performance , new spark plugs , cleaned K&N air filter ,
changed MTX fluid , coolant flush , and a new serpentine belt.

When we drained the MTX fluid it was clear and thick so that was a good sign I guess that the car was taken good care of / sent in for maintenance.

My question is that I have read that I need to do a valve adjustment. So far the car does not tick *knocks on wood* and runs GREAT! Should I still do this procedure or leave it alone?

Thank you in advance.

If I owned the car I would do the valve adjustment. It'll give me a peace of mind.

p.s. doesn't hurt to replace the tranny fluid. 15 mins tops. =)

Thanks man, appreciate the advice. I'll probably be doing it in the next couple of weeks. I don't drive the car that much just to and from work and the gym. It's a blast to drive!

120K or 10 years is the recommended time to do a valve adjustment. I'd say might as well do it. Also look at the cams when you have the timing cover off. If the previous owner used 5w-20, the cams may be galled.

Thanks! How do I know if the cams are galled? I'm guessing if they are I have to get new ones?

Thanks man! Hopefully I do not see this lol. I noticed Stage 1 & 2 cams are like $600.. where can I find OEM ones? I dont really have the money to drop $600 on racing cams.. I'd rather use that money to get headers.. Thanks
