Hello ephatch,

i finished my k24a2 swap finally! and now i want to up the numbers a lot, i could go boosted and all that but i am wanting to stay NA is it possible to hit 270 with 91 octane gas? would i have to throw on a k20a2 or z3 head? of course

another question that i am curious about is the vtec killer setups? i never heard of a k24a2 block in any of those mentions just the k24a1's and k20a3's

I think you would be needing a lot of internal work... Like fully built. High comp pistons, cams, p&p... With NA power is a lot tougher to build. There are plenty of builds documented out there with your goals. Follow one of those as a guideline. If it were me... I would have built the longblock before install lol. If I were you, I would buy a K24 and a2 head to build on the side... Enjoy your newly swapped engine ; ) and think about being able to slap a turbo on and hit 400hp for the price of your NA goals lol.

All a2 head use the 3 lobes on the Vtec cams. The A3 A1 and A4/A8 heads use a two lobe VTEC system... In a vtec killer set up the rockers are set on the high lobes of the Vtec cams ALWAYS. So no cross over, all vtec. Kind of like a muscle car with a high cam. Big lopes... look up a video on YouTube. You'll hear it and know what I'm talking about.
In any case... Your already running a better set up in your swap now.

What bolt ons are you running? Tuned?

You could come close with good bolt ons and headwork on a stock block. The stock k24a2 head is going to be your biggest challenge due to its small port design. Look up the NA section of k20a.org- they have some of the best technical info for k motors anywhere.

I saw a build over on clubrsx of a member that used the newer K24Z3/7 11.0:1 pistons in an OEM K24A bottom nd build and with the help of aftermarket parts in the head was able to pull high 260whp in an 05 RSX-S.

So that proves you don't need aftermarket pistons to pull off at least 260whp. Keep in mind that a BIG thing about N/A builds is FLOW!!

You need to feed that engine lots of air and escape it just as efficiently. As big of a manifold you can practically/affordably fit, ported runners, throttle body ported to match intake plenum, velocity stack intake, etc. etc.

If you do it right, you can nail 300whp with 11.0:1 compression as long as your head work and what I mentioned previously is on point.
