Well I live in Central California. I just picked up my EP3 about a month ago. Drove 3 hours to pick her up in Burbank at a used car dealership. She's completely stock. 2004 Vivid Blue. 82,XXX miles.
What was your guys first mod when you got your EP3?

Nice pick up man. Not too many Ep's in central CA.

My first mod was oem/stock wheels. It had GSR blades on when I got it. Hated the way it looked.

Keep it clean !

Welcome, good luck with the new EP.

thanks! nice. I think they look nice with 16 inch wheels.

what do you mean -225 lbs?

and so far I all I did was remove front license plate and got a dragon ball shift knob lol I don't know if that counts as a mod ;)

Sure, a Dragon Ball shifter is a mod, lol. A lot of guys drop the suspension as a first mod but read up on the EP before doing that. What do you want to do with the car?

-225 lbs. refers to stripping weight off for improved handling and it's a little quicker.

yeah that's like the first big mod I want to do. lower it. I was thinking racelands since they're pretty cheap. and im on a budget since im trying to fund another build. I want to build it for my daily commute and autox on the weekends.

what have you stripped out of your car?

Wel-cum
Fine car you have there.
First mod was a neuspeed short shifter adapter. F'ing love it still. You should get familiar with the car before you mod it, IMO. Do a lot of reading before you make any purchase (best size for wheels etc.).
Good luck, make her your own.

Thanks! Nice. ive been reading on forums a week before I got the car lol. just now I decided to be a member. since some parts of the forums are restricted.
but I might just get more familiar with her. ill wait a couple months before I do any big mod. Im thinking of just waiting till income tax :)

I had an AEM one, originally. Later, I 'upgraded' to whatever was the new hot shit in 2006 or so. I think it started with an 'F,' but I can't remember.

Yeah, apparently it was a Fujita. Pics from my part out sale after totaling the car:

The places where it says "Fujita" lead me to believe it was a Fujita.

I apologize to the regular members in advance for the redundancies...:msmile:

You pay a big price with weight removal in sound deadening and expense so make sure it's worth it to you. The main reasons for weight reduction is for handling and a lower weight to hp ratio. I have about 22 "free" whp so far and will have about 36 some day. From 20.4 lbs/1 whp stock to 17.6/1 just from weight removal and currently 16.2 with a little extra hp. A stock block K20A3 with i/e/KPro, and a mild cam will put the EP at about 12.8/1. You would require 217 whp for a stock weight EP to equal that. A jdm EP is around 14.7.

More importantly, for me, is the much, much, much, improved handling and braking. I'm around 2400 now and the improvement is very discernible. Powers had 163 whp before his motor swap and weighed about 2400. His ratio was the same as a jdm R. and probably handled better due to weight loss and good suspension mods.

I have 59 lbs. off of the unsprung weight from wheels, brakes, R lcas but added 6 from tires, 1/4 from spacers, and bigger stabilizer bars, so say -50. The interior is where the majority can be pulled, more than 350, iirc. The good thing is that the easiest and free weight removal is from the inside rear, which makes the rear suspension "stiffer" and has a better hertz relationship with the front. A good area to remove weight is the front left and you can pull up to 50 there with a lighter battery, cai, and flywheel. Plastic windows, exhaust, carbon fiber trunk, hood, sun roof removal, etc, etc. and you're under 2,200 lbs. But you basically have a track car minus the cage.

To keep it street respectable you could still remove 200 - 300+ lbs., 2,475 to 2,575 lbs.. 2400 with some bucks. Rear seat, spare, jack, unsprung weight, battery, aftermarket seats, carbon fiber trunk and hood, flywheel, cai, exhaust, etc.. Depends on the cash flow.

I'll second what Hasbro said about making sure removing weight is worth it to you. Shit is LOUD.

Shit's been gone since 2008. I don't even remember who bought it. For whatever it's worth, if I had it, I'd send it to you for whatever shipping costs.

Yeah, ear plugs weren't enough for my trip. I also had the ear protectors but it was too uncomfortable. And that's with stock exhaust! Race tires sure didn't help.

I took out the seats and some plastics and I was like faaak. Everyone who gets in the car thinks there is something wrong.

Ide send you a splash shield too ;D

thank you sir. didn't know the little things make a big difference like cai, battery and all that. might start there. I definitely want aftermarket seats!

haha I bet.

My first mod was ASpec suspension. It's my daily commuter car and this suspension is good and not too low for daily driving. I love it.
