When is this f***ing Icebox gonna come out?

What is the most recent news on the Comptech Icebox for the `02 and up Civic Si's? I've checked the website and emailed them but haven't found anything or heard from them yet? I'm definitely waiting for the Icebox as my first mod and hope that all this hype is worth the wait.

They are in the final stages of development, should be out in Feb. from what Ive heard. Im anxious for it to come out too! :D

Just got a call from Comptech.


Early March.


F@%K me, I'll never be able to wait that long.


I'm going Comptech for the intake and header, possibly the exhaust, with the Hondata flash and heat insulator gasket. Then some underdrive pulleys. Then I'm done.

REPLY FROM COMPTECH AS OF 1/21/03:
The cold air intake is not quite ready to ship just yet. We are still working out fitment for the box to sit inside the engine compartment. It might be shown on websites for back orders, but besides that, we haven't released it on our side. The ETA on when it will be ready should be March 1st. Please check back then for news regarding this item. Thanks.

Does anyone know what type of sound the box will give? Will it be close to stock? I think it would, but hey, I dont know...

it's not as loud as CAI but it's a bit louder than stock. it has a deep sound.

What are the differences between the icebox and a cold air intake? Easier to install? Quiter? Does it look more like stock?

I've never had or seen one.

Has anyone tried to modify your stock airbox and replacing the air filter by a aftermarket drop-in filter like Spoon? I'm waiting for my drop-in filter to arrive, then I'll do the mod.
