I'd get . . .Progress springs. Sorry I really dig 'em. great ride--made for our car. But if I only had those choices I would go with the Eibach Sportlines.

How far of a drop are the Tein Springs? And how far of a drop can you go with the Tein Coilover setup? I heard you can only go a 2 inch drop at the most. Is that true?

The S tech's are 1.3 F and 1.4 R, dont know bout the coilovers

4g63dsm
03-27-2003, 11:07 PM
the coilovers can go really low at least on the EK, more than 3 inches

TravisEP3
03-28-2003, 10:27 PM
Heh, funny you guys should ask about how low you can go. I just got finished putting my Type SS kit in and there is a lot of room for adjustment. I went for what the manual recommended and still have about 1/2 inch lower or so. My car is slammed now and I dont want to drop any more. I'll take some beauty pics tomorrow so you guys can see. The ride is incredible and the adjustability factor is soooo worth it. Went out for a ride on the recommended setting of 10 out of 16 and it was a little stiff. Dropped it back to 8 on all 4 corners and now I'm loving it. Tein all the way for me!

I got a flier for a place in Everett (can't remember the name, flier is at home) while at the Seattle HIN that for $200 would even install the Tein springs.

it gives you an uneven drop doesnt it??? wouldnt that hurt you in handleing? doesnt it look wierd or does it look niffty! how far does progress bring you down? does it come down enough to cover the wheel gap on a set of 17s with 45 series tires?

Do you have close-up pics of your wheel gaps (front and back) on even ground? I'm really interested in the Tein's and am thinking about switching them with the Sportlines I have now.

hey, Im getting my TEIN S Tech springs this Tue. Before i set a date to install i wanting to know if i should order a camber kit?

Any ep drivers with TEIN S. TECH (or anyone) with a 1.5 drop need a camber kit?

If u dont have a kit, How is the tire ware? How long have u had the TEIN springs on? Miles? Do u see any wear in your tires?

thanks, about 50/50 people told me a need a camber kit, but its a 130.00, then i gotta wait longer to install it, i just wana know. Im probally going to buy it tho. But i wouldnt wana wait any longer i want my TEINs on.

hey...dude...did you use a camber kit? or was the car not low enough? i like how it's low but not too low. i wanted to go with some 225/40/17 but i'm afraid that it might rub and such. i used to have an accord and the tires were tuck...but a bitch to drive around espeically going up drive ways.

im stuck in a delima right now. i don't know if i should get Tein Type SS coilovers, or get the alpine 9815, CTR wing, new tires for the 17" racing harts i have in my garage, and lower the car with tein springs.

SeatownEP02
06-03-2003, 12:59 PM
its not low enough for a camber...ppl ask if its even lowered at all.
i thought tein springs and sportline were both 1.5 drop but tein is lower by a very noticible difference.

if i were you i would get the tein coilovers first to take care of suspension

heres a members pic, the one on the right has tein, left sportline

Stock rims with 195/60 tires.

My orignal vote was for Eibach Pro-Kit, but I'm going with Tein now, heheh. Since I'm using them. Minus one for Eibach and plus one for Tein, hurahhhh.....

hey guys,

I have decided to go with the Tein s. What should i be paying for these? I went to my local tuner and got quoted $229.00 for the springs plus another $200.00 for installation. Is that reasonable or way over priced?

thanks

that is way overpriced! you can get it from showstoppers for way cheaper! and 200 is a bit pricey for spring installation.. i was quoted 100 from around my place.. not sure about where you live..

OK this friday I get my nice check from work with about 40 hours of over time so I will be getting my springs and other upgrades for sure now!!!! What is the bigest diffrence between the Eibach and Tein? I want a good ride but shocks that will last for a while. I also do not want to bottom out easy. I have seen the Tein and I like the look on how the car stands. I just have not seen the Eibach in person yet. This is driving me nuts.

whatever springs you go with...you still should change your shocks.....do it all at once, and you'll save lots of $. eventually...your stock shocks will go out and you'll have to get new ones...which will cost you yet again, another couple bucks because lowering the car, and changing shocks is the same thing. i was gonna go with eibach because i got a friend who knows someone from there and could get me springs for $40 for sportlines...but i'm just gonna wait for the H&R full body coilovers and be done with it one time.

don't half ass anything on your car... we all know eventually you'll need shocks...might as well just wait and do it all at once. if your worried about the costs...just think of the costs when shocks blow, or whatever. and if your concerned about ride height...full body coilovers ist he only way to go. i know that H&R sells different springs sets...so you can even change springs for more stiffness or a firmer ride.

if you add up the costs...it's almost the same.

(4) Koni Yellows - about 125 each x 4 = $500
Tein S. Tech - about $140
Installation from a shop - at least 100

your total is around $750.

Full body coilovers start at 1000. Tein Basic Damper kit starts at only $750.

there's my long two cents.

If some shocks would come out in the next few weeks that did not make it so I had to mod my car for the install I would get them. If I can get an offical release date for a shock I will wait for them for a little while.

Bilstein makes a shock for the EP, but you have to order them from Japan, and they're something like $180 a piece:eek: .
