Alright, So I'm looking to buy a set of drag radials for my stock wheels, which are 6.5x15. I'm looking at the Nitto 555R's, BFG G Force or the BFG Comp T/A drag radials. The Nitto's in that size range are only a 205/45/15 which seems awfully low-pro for a drag tire. The next step up is the G-Force which is 205/50/15 which I can nab for 200 bucks on the rim out the door (for 2). Or the big daddy, the Comp T/A 235/60/15, which BFG says I can squeez on a 6.5" wheel... I figured I'd just have to run lower pressures to get a nice footprint.

So what's my best bet? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Anthony

I'd go with the 205/45. Yeah it's low profile, but we're not making too much torque, and as long as you don't get stupid with the launch they should hook well. Also it will give you a bit more quickness since you're lowering the overall height. I had some BFG Drag Radials on my 95 Z28 that were the same size as stock (245/50/16) and they hooked really well, even with over 300whp.

i forgot to mention that this'll be with 80-100 shot of nitrous and either a Hondata flash if I can wait, or a head port & polish. So I'm hoping to have about 230-250hp. Still think the 205/45 will work? I can get a great price on them, but I just wasn't sure on traction.

Thanks

for a drag radial i'd want more sidewall.

the more sidewall there is, the better the tires will hook up off the line.

but a lot of it comes down to how the driver prefers to launch the car. If you're fond of dumping the clutch, the 60 series tire will do much better as it will be harder to spin.

if you feather teh clutch, the 45 sidewall should be okay.
