im thinking about making a carbon fiber panel to cover the sunroof so i can take it out i figure its about 40lbs 10 more and we'd lose 1/10 in the q-mile so what does everyone think

I dont't wanna remove mine because I'm not that hardcore about going 1/10th of a sec faster. The 99 Si sunroof a friend and I removed was weighed at 80lbs btw

They do weigh quite a bit - thats how the ctr weighs 2600 - no sunroof and a/c thats about all they did to get that weight...

I'd love a cf plug or, better yet, some kind of lexan, with the option to manually prop it open like in the "moonroof" position on our motorized sunroofs. I think thats how they originally came on in the 80's.

I'm not really into this whole weight loss thing. It's a new car, my daily driver, and I can still make it decently fast.

If I had wanted something light I would have bought a 92 hatch and threw a B18C5 in there.

No way I'd get rid of my sunroof. I love having one. If I can't make my car fast enough to carry around another fifty or so pounds, then it's time to get a different car.

Just go on a diet and lose 50 lbs.
I love my sunroof and I would never get rid of it.

Here's a nifty little fact I discovered about our moonroofs. I found it in the media kit all dealers received before the EP even came out.

"Contributing to the excellent headroom of the Civic SiR interior is an exceptionally slim and compact power moonroof design. By combining a thinner motor (6 mm thinner than in the previous Civic SiR) with a high-rigidity dome-shaped aluminum sunshade, Honda engineers have created one of the thinnest moonroofs on the market today. The moonroof in the Civic SiR is just 50 mm thick, compared with the 75.8 mm for the previous Civic model."

they didnt say anything about the fact that our car is tall. heh my car was parked next to a stock 6th gen coupe and man was that roof low compaired to my stock height ep. looked to be at least an 8 inch difference
