View Full Version : For those with a cold air intake

I posted this in the discussion forum too...

I just installed my cold air intake. As I was putting everything back together I cut a hole in the bottom part of the plastic covering, exposing the filter. Should I not have done that because my friend said it wasn't necessary... I just figured it would get more air in there.

I had to cut some plastic to make it fit, but I didn't cut enough to actually expose the filter. You better be careful with rain if your filter is exposed.

nothing duct tape can't fix.:D yeah i made a cut in the plastic liner, but like he said not enough to expose the filter. you can kinda see the intake piping though.

my friend (FascistDictator) had me help him installing his CAI. *attention to you idiots here* you do not and did not have to cut any of the fender well trim to get the intake tube in. it is very pliable (its only plastic for cripes sakes!!!). all you had to do was bend it under the brake hub/axle and rotor area for it to hold while you feed the intake tube down and use the hex socket to crew the brake on. it gives you plenty of room to do the install and tighten down the filter.

obviously some people here arent very intuitive

and P.S. anybody that's going to do this in the future--use gloves! that black tar-like crap that holds the tabs/pins that hold the fender trim in the fender is a bish to get off your hands and out of underneath your finger nails

uh huh i bet, well just fyi for you guys, your cars computers are like ten times as complicated so lets see how they fare in the long haul in terms of reliability

my cars been runnin fine, ive been on top of my ish with oil changes and what not...so no need to worry about that. even if im as unreliable as you claim, i got a 10 year warranty? hows that compare to the meager 3 year honda one eh? :D

Yup you Probably will need all 10 years of it too.

Face it Honda is built to last, Hyndai hp 134hp@6000prm = HynDIE......

jasonclay2004
02-05-2003, 11:16 PM
speaking of corrections, its Hyundai not hyndai.

the info you posted is that of the base model and if you bothered to read you would know that i have the GT V-6 which = 170 hp and 181 torque, hell of a lot more than your car produces...

2k2civicSi
02-05-2003, 11:20 PM
i like the tib dont get me wrong but with a V6 you should be making a hell of alot more power than that
s2k makes 100hp per litter and 25per cyl how do you feel that a 4cyl more hp than your pos V6low

jasonclay2004
02-05-2003, 11:23 PM
yea funny thing is that s2k is still torqueless = 152 or 153 (cant remember). anyways i wouldnt dare put boost on that thing which im sure would cause it to blow up

and in the long run with that car you still paid $33,000 for a crappy short term warranty

HAHAHAHAHAHAHa your funny....... Your 170 is more like 120 at the wheel, plus that tug boat of your tibby is 3015 lbs Go get a life, I really don't care what YOU think... Don't you have a recall to look into, get the hell out of here.

how does a cold air intake discussion turn into a KDM vs JDM warranty, power, engine flame war? DO SHUT UP!

02-05-2003, 11:32 PM
hahaha.. seriously.. why do you think u got 10 yrs? because you need it... hondas last, face it. two of my friend's have tibs with blown engines.. they didn't misshisft or anything. just blew up while racing hahah.. also.. 170hp. big deal! u have a v6! that's such krap.also. ur interior is so whack.

Cant we all just get along.....Why are we even humoring this guy. I mean really. He drives the slowest v-6 in the market. His transmission will go at 30,000 miles. Wow a 10 yr warranty! Hyundai won't even be around for 10 years. Why are you even in this forum. Don't they have hyundai forums somewhere.

jasonclay2004
02-06-2003, 03:42 PM
You guys all humored me when you got fooled into signing a 3 year warranty contract...my car may not have the same numbers as a lot of other V-6's SO WHAT?!? it's a 2.7!!! beyond that, it doesnt matter what size engine you got its how good a deal you got. i am left with goods that whoop your slow torqueless ep's. i dont have to wind to motorcycle like rpms to pick up power like you sorry civic owners.

back to the point, you guys overspent on a friggin 4 cyl when i got a V-6 for less...Hyundai, when you get standard features that you didn't pay for = you win.

Dude I've always said to each their own... if you like you hyundai fine but...

1) Your HP & Torque argument won't work being that you're comparing a 6cyl. v. a 4 cyl... actually if you do the math the ep puts out more power per cylinder than the tiburon no question.

2) Not eveyone paid more than you for their ep. With $16,859 I had my EP out the door, sitting on 17" OZ's, and an INJEN Cold Air... and they threw in a free car cover.

3) The reason they offer a ten year warranty is because you're gonna need it. True it's ten years, but what good is a new car if it's always gonna be at the dealer.

I'm not trying to offend you but you are in an EP site raving about your tiburon.... did you really think you were gonna come out on top.
