View Full Version : Shift boot mod for aftermarket knobs

This is my own little tutorial. I don't have a digital camera, so I used a simple draw program. Hope it helps. The knob i put on was a Spoon Sports shift knob on an OEM boot.

Nice informative post. Good job. I was going to turn something out of aluminum, but ended up doing the same thing, and modifying the inside of the chrome plastic barrel to accept the carbon fiber counterfeit Mugen knob I bought on eBay for $20. It looks perfect, and since the ball is hollow, really shortened shift throws.

As soon as I get off my lazy ass and finish things, I will get some pics up. Main thing, I need to pick up a washer :) But, yes it does work, and it doesn't look half bad. I will get some close up pics as well so that you can see what it looks like IRL.

can someone throw this "how-to" up again....just got my '04 and want to change the knob without having the boot just hanging.....
