Ran a 15.6 at Pacific Raceways (seattle) - I'll scan in my time slips tomorrow @ work, but until then I'll just write down what I got.

Left Lane

R/T 1.036 (Not that good, but it'll get better)
60' 2.372
330 6.570
1/8 10.073
Mph 71.50
1000 13.094
1/4 15.651
Mph 88.18

I raced some thunderbird w/ groceries in the trunk haha...He ran a 17.53 but had a nice R/t of .599

I also raced a GSR or Type R (gsr that looks like a r) he had a passenger (small girl) and beat him pretty good too, he ran a 16 flat, but the timer screwed up on me, it only posted my 1/8 so it said I ran a 10.5 -- hah I wish....

The last race I had a passenger and got no wheelhop, and a really nice r/t and launch - but he slowed me down overall - I ran a 16...

My car is 100% stock, stock wheels, no intake nothing...I only took out the spare/jack (20lb) probably.

Also I launched at about 2.5 - 2.9 on all the races - I get wheelhop pretty bad in first gear as soon as I'm at about 4.5-6.8 rpms then second is smooth and so on and so on....

All in all a nice day - was pretty cold, but the sun was out...Lots of people came up to me and said I was brave to run it stock, and were suprised w/ the 15.6 bone stock time - Showed'em whats up...As soon as I get some breathin boltons - I'm thinking low 15's fo shizzo...All you peeps in Seattle should have come down today, it was a nice day! There was one guy's ep there, w/ cp88's and drop - looked nice. Our cars are faster than people think guys...Just have to show'em whats up! Peace

Its 35 bucks your first time- you got to register your car, then the next time you run its 25 bucks

Its cheaper than a Dyno, and gives you real results....Plus its just fun as hell being around all the nice cars...

Peace, I'm going to be posting some pics soon.

Thats me in the left lane!! And the Thunderbird in the right. 15.6 baby! These stock wheels do suck, but the wheelhop is what kills up - motormounts are a must!!!! I'll still scan in my timeslips tomorrow. If ya dont trust me :p

Here is the pic of me and my buddy - his 5.0

He ran a 14.7, it really needs a tunup - its mad clean looking interior and exterior for a 1987 5.0

You can also see my blackout housing - it adds about 5hp ;)

That's a terrific time!

The wheel hop is terrible. How can this be fixed?

Dunrick
02-23-2003, 08:03 PM
The answer to WheelHop in fwd cars is MotorMounts - search for them - Myeverlovinsir got some for about 80 bucks I believe...Says it eliminates it alltogether! Probably shave a .1 off my time - I would have ran a 15.5 probably...Also dropping the car can help a little bit...Motor mounts is the key though

Shark
02-23-2003, 08:06 PM
Motor mounts, huh? My experience is with RWD. Technically, why do motor mounts cause this?

Dunrick
02-23-2003, 08:08 PM
When you floor your engine - it will literally move a inch or two

motormounts just keep your engine from moving - somehow that movement w/o motormounts causes wheelhop - has to do w/ weight distribution! I dont know - All I know is you need them! :P

Woah, you painted A LOT of your headlight house.... looks good!

Dunrick
02-24-2003, 08:57 AM
Its a fairly easy project - I followed the project tutorial off the website - I think a lot of important stuff was left out about resealing the lens w/ the housing though...I'm basically a pro at it now though heh - I had to do it twice

Great run! The motor mounts are a must. Will definitely get rid of the wheel hop for you. One question, that track looks like it declines then levels out at the 1000 mark. Is that an optical illusion?:)

Yeah that picture makes the track look like its really short also - its about as flat as it can get, if anything it is a incline. It might dip down a little bit after the finish line - but then the braking area is up a hill....which is nice so you dont have to kill your breaks.

Myeverlovinsir - What did those motormounts run you again? Where did you get them? Thanks

I laugh at it every time, but I only paid 35 CAD. They are ES inserts and the most dificult part is putting them in. Or finding a shop to do it for you. After that you will notice some idle vibration. But it is a small sacrifice for great launches. Above 1000 rpms my car is smooth. In the higher rpms it will also resonate but its just a meaner sound and feel. You should be able to pick them up direct from any ES distributor. ClubRSX has a group buy on them, I believe they are 40 US, good luck;)

EDIT: btw, the Energy Suspension part no. is: 16.1110G (black)

Awsome, thanks for the info.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again! You need to get to the track my friend - You got the most built a3 on here, I'm certain I would have a 14 sec car w/ all the stuff you got also -

good time...
15.80 @ 87 here...
But i'm 6'6" 330 lbs...
Car weighed in at over 3000 lbs w/ driver...
I always said the ep is a mid 15 sec car stock...
Guess you just proved it...
Unless you got some hidden mods ur not revealing...
lol

You can get a over weight person to sit on your hood. opps you just lost 3 seconds off your time....try going around a curve at 60 mph with about 800 pds in your ride...I love Progress

What does my profile have to do w/ anything? I hope your going to stick w/ the a3 myeverlovinsir cause I need other people like you to take the a3 all the way. The money is piling up, I'll probably give in and start modding the engine. Really want to wait for the icebox though, motor mounts are definitely coming though.

Whoops thought you had the I/H/E in your profile, but I was mistaken. You will appreciate those mods when you get them. Let us know how it progresses on the track. tks.:D

Same with me, my first engine mod will either be midpipe or the inebox when it comes out... I really dont wanna risk hydrolocking! Any word on when thats comin out?

great time!

my best is a 15.7 with a midpipe and 24+k miles. dirty air filter, needed an oil change, and some BALDASS tires. They had been at the wear markers for about a month before I took them to the track, and afterwards, there were no wear markers. :(

If i had some tread at all on the tires, :D

I can't wait to go back with the new tires which will be arriving shortly. can we say 225/50/15 on 11.xlb wheels? :D

Thanks - Those lightweight 15's will rock on the strip. wrap some nice tires around those and you are going to fly. What was your trap speed when you ran a 15.7? Just trying to get an Idea, cause it seems people w/ mods are getting higher trap speeds even if they are slower times.

Your 60ft was slightly worse than mine, and the mph was only .01 slower.

My run yielded a:

15.737 @ 88.19mph
2.359 60ft

Since my 60ft was better, I *should* have had a better time, but my tires are so bald that on the 2-3 upshift on the strip. the wheels would break loose.

Better traction + lighter wheels should make me faster by a 10th or two. I ran at the alabama dragway in steele. I got much better times there versus Atlanta dragway in commerce. In commerce the best I could manage was like a 16.1 or something horrible like that. Commerce has a pretty high elevation, and steele is very close to sea level, so that's probably what made the difference for me.

Nice Chunky, what was your R/T? I had a pretty bad one :/ Later on the day I was getting .7's - ohwell, it was my first run in the ep ever...

I couldn't really see him, I remember in the corner of my eye he did something really stupid like stall or something.....I think it was a Automatic Thunderbird (mid 90's) and he must have stomped on it, and it just took a while for the power to kick in....lousy auto's
