Ok check this out, I was driving to work this morning and all of a sudden I hear loud knocking coming from my engine. I pulled over to the side (I was on a street not a freeway) and all of a sudden my engine started smoking. I was like OH SHIT!! Wtf just happened?!?! I turned the car off, but I let the smoke clear before I opened the hood. It was white smoke, so I didn't think it was oil burning, but when I did open the hood it smelled like burned oil. I was able to make it to work, but I don't think I can get home with this shit. I mean, I don't even race my car - I just drive it to work. Any ideas on wtf happened? I had my car since September 02' and it only has 4 thousand miles on it. Any ideas will be helpful...thanks.

blown motor? regardless of the problem you need to get it to the dealer. I wouldn't try fixing something like that myself with warranty and all.

a few more details might help...
you said you made it to work...
well how did it drive after it started smoking?
did it seem to have a misfire? low on power? stalling? idle ok?
what were u doing when this happened? cruising, full throttle?
were u driving thru a puddle?

I made it to work by driving with my emegency lights going 10 mph. It happened a block from where I work anyway. The engine was knocking badly, even at 10 mph. It didn't produced as much smoke, but it was there. BTW, this all happened when I was cruising. It didn't seem to misfire. I'm having it towed to the dealership right now, so I'll keep you guys posted on what happened.

The same exact thing happened to my mom's car when i was driving it. I was driving normal speeds (25 over:rolleyes: nope ) and then all of the sudden a carmelly- oily smell filled the cabin and i idled home. We popped the bonnet and saw engine coolant sprayed all over the engine, but not into the engine. The hose had disconnected and that's where all the smoke was coming from. No engine damage, but it scared the hell outta me. Everything is okey-dokey now tho, so check the coolant hose.

It sounds like you blew your motor. Maybe your oil pump failed. This is what happened on my 98 escort. The oil pump failed causing the filter to blow off emptying all the oil out and seizing up the engine. Make sure you dont touch anything and tow it to the dealer.

This happened to my Si. I was drivin hard and all of a sudden tons of white smoke. i mean TONS. LOTS. I couldnt see behind me and i got all dizzy.

I found out that the oil filter exploded or broke or something. Leaking oil all over the header collecter. very bad. I took it to honda and they fixed it for free. They told me that the machine that put on the filter must have seriously over torqued it.

They fixed it and cleaned up the mess for free :)

Check where there is oil. If it is directly under your filter then that is more than likely the problem. Take it to your dealer.........get food..laugh..then take it to your honda dealer. They should fix it up quick

sounds like the same thing happened to my dads si, when he was driving a rock went through the front bumper where the hole is. it made a hole in i think the radiator and caused his car to overheat. he took it to the dealership and they replaced it. then he got a mesh grille insert to block it so rocks cant get in it. good luck in finding the problem, hopefully i will be of some help.

hmm. . . . 4000 miles on it. . . did you recently have an oil change done?

maybe the fucktards forgot to tighten the filter or drain bolt down properly. . . happend to a friend, she got a new engine for her 200sx after a LOT of fighting in court.

Where was the temp gauge?

Maybe the radiator hose came off? That happened to me on the freeway once. It was like a James Bond car... huge smoke screen!!!
