I am getting my JDM CTR rear sway bar soon from Pole Position. I was wondering if I need reinforcement plates. My friend has a Mugen rear sway bar on his 99 Si and its also 22mm like the JDM CTR and he has to use the reinforcement plates or the sub frame will rip out. I was wondering if I have to use these reinforcement plates on our Ep. I will be doing some autoXXXing but not a great deal of it. Input would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advanced.

a lower tie bar like the Skunk2 that Showstoppers has a sale on would be your best bet. The Progress rear sway(22mm) comes with a plate that acts as a tie bar. So I guess any tie bar shold do the job.

I'm sorry. I don't think I was clear enough. What I meant was that if i needed reinforcement plates for the JDM CTR REAR SWAY BAR not for the REAR LOWER TIE BAR. There have been reports of the bigger size rear sway bar ripping out the sub frame while autoXXing.

This is the pic of the rear sway bar I'm talking about.

Well..I think he's telling you that instead of the reinforcement plates progress added a tie bar, so it looks like they do the same things. It's probably a good idea to have one or the other with a sway bar bigger than 19mm.

I would definitely get those reinforcement plates. It will rip that sub frame eventually, especially under extreme driving conditions...i.e. autoxing

Thanks guys. Where can I get these reinforcement plates at if my JDM CTR doesn't come with one?

None of us are using Mugen sway bars. I was trying to see if I need reinforcment plates for the JDM CTR rear sway bar. The Civic Type R, the car itself does not have reinforcment plates either. Probably becuase the chasis is stronger than before so I'm trying to see if need them so my sub frame won't rip out during autoXXing. I beleive our chhasis is as strong as the CTR one.
