http://www.mugen-power.com/street/civic_ep/type_r.htm the Mugen equipment listed there...any clue if the Type-R exhaust and stuff works fine in our Si's?

Personally I wish I could have ALL of that in my car =P, from the kit to the stupid oil cap that says mugen on it lol...

And then I'd toss the HKS turbo kit on and make it the uber civic =P

The exhaust will fit with slight modification to the B-pipe or you can fit an aftermarket cat that is the right length for this application.

I've got the Mugen thermostat being shipped to me this week, looking forward to getting it working on my car. I also tossed in a brake reservoir cover (wristband), they're kinda cute. I like the Mugen oil cap, looks good, its a bit overpriced but have you checked out the price of DC sports oil caps lately, they aren't so cheap anymore either.

Joey, I'm gonna pull out a quote that you said, last time we met up.... "I think I'm done with modding the car. That's all I'm gonna do."
hehehehe So much for that eh!? :D

damn I hate it when people quote me !. he, he, he,

yeah since we last met I've added Spoon rad cap, Spoon rad fan switch, Hawk Brake pads, mugen Thermostat (on delivery), Neuspeed polished front strut bar (on delivery), Honda fog lights, and ephatch.com sticker. Not bad for a guy that was supposed to be finished with mods. :)

Wow, was cruising through this site and found this...

I spy a rollcage and an awesome paif of seats and harnesses. Oh yeah, the red interior could be cool but I think the black has a better scheme in the carpet/door panels, but that is just Type R stuff if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah I hear Mugen has nowhere near the quality and street cred of APC.

Let us know how the thermostat install goes, and if you notice any big change (will probably have to wait till summer to here about that).

I have the MUGEN oil cap and it is so nice! Kinda hard paying near 100 dollars for a little piece of aluminum!
But i feel that I have gained significant power increses just by the aluminum acting as a heat despenser! I think I gained 20-35 HP.....JUST JOKING.

I really do have the cap its pretty cool , just a little engine dress up here and there. It came in a sealed mugen Box ( I still have that sentimental piece too!)

Ohh, Mugen has higher quality standards than APC...

I want the Whole Friggen mugen Si, I guess I will have to make my own. Oh well :)

I'd love to get that Mugen oil cap, pricey , but damn it is nice looking. I like it much better than the old version.

I'll let you guys know once the thermostat gets installed, should work well with my current mods, plus the reservoir cover will look sweet too !.

How much horsepower will the reservoir cover give? Is the Spoon one better than the Mugen?

Oh, and can it be machine washed, cold, with fabric softener or does it need hand washing?

the Mugen reservoir cover is nicer IMO, brighter colours, fluffier cloth, even nicer if you decide to use it as a wristband. I only got one for the brake reservoir as our clutch reservoir is pencil thin. I would hand wash the cover myself. They provide a decent hp gain for the relatively low cost - good bang for the buck. ;)

Good to hear that the reservoir cover provides power you can feel. Which is lighter, the Mugen or Spoon? Is there a FAQ about installation on theri website? Have you weighed them? I am worry about weight gain on my EP. I already shaved the floor mats and let the air out of the spare tire to get a cheap and easy 100 lbs like I did on Gran Turismo.

Also, would removing my front emblem increase the frontal drag? I am worried about removing the riser for the emblem because I think the shape helps divert the airflow to the radiator and increases the aerodynamic efficiency (whew! looked that one up). Also, is the CTR emblem lighter than the stock one? Does any one know how much the pushnuts weigh? Should I leave them off or would that effect my warranty? And I lease, to, what if the Man sees that I have a red emblem without the factory pushnuts? Could I get pulled over for using a red emblem? Speaking of, will I still be able to pass smog check with the Mugen reservoir covers? How about the Spoon? Which is better? PLEASE HELP!

there is a reason why Mugen parts cost so much, that's because they have engineers that test all that stuff out before they produce a part for retail sale. Its all good. Its all about performance.

But hey we've seen guys spend severl hundreds of dollars for parts that dont work (i.e. zero gains or even power losses). What's wrong with spending $12 on a reservoir cover, or $70 on an oil filler cap, it's still zero gains but they make you feel good all over, he, he.

I guess not everyone knows what this symbol represents ;)

Well, all I can say is that my oil cap gave me 20 hp on the dyno...
And also if you run the Quarter(1/4) mile Naked, it lightens the car thus giving better times!!!!!!!

I Street race nude all the time! Chicks dig it!:p

I got the thermostat delivered today ( reservoir cover as well), this is a nice part, surprised Mugen makes one for almost the same cost as their old 99-00 Si thermostats. It somes as a complete assembly to just bolt onto the housing.

This thing is a bitch to install though, I say almost impossible from underneathe the car. I am going to remove the intake manifold and do it from above to save me some grief. I'm gonna wait for a Hondata gasket and do it at the same time.

Keep us posted on the install. Pics would be nice if you can get them, since this is something I'm interested in doing down the line.

Okay I will take a couple pics once I get the intake manifold removed. I will have the thermostat installed in the next day or so, but I won't drive the car until I get the intake manifold finalized.

The shop manual shows the work being done from below the engine bay but for the life of me I cant get my hands to work in that tight space, so she's being done from above. Here is a link to the pic of the thermostat I have :

I'll keep you posted

I want to get the Twin Loop for the EP3 when it comes out for the USDM version. It will cost me an arm, a leg, three fingers and two weeks of man whoring to pay it but I think it's worth it.

well I got the Mugen thermostat installed today, I took my time. It wasn't too difficult once I got the intake manifold removed, I can't see how anyone could do it without removing the intake manifold. The part looked identical to the stock thermostat, no real way to distinguish them, so I guess you just have to trust Mugen giving you the right part. The installation time is pretty long when you take the intake manifold into account, although not that difficult, easily done with jackstands and basic hand tools. A small accurate torque wrench is needed to do the final torque specs on the three attachment bolts. Gonna wait on the Hondata heat shield gasket before I bolt it all back together. I will probably do the throttle body bypass mod as well while I'm in there, looks pretty simple.

I got the Mugen reservoir cover on the brake fluid cylinder, looks nice, I've got the itch to get that sweet looking oil cap now :)
