enjoy boys.

http://www.darksci.net/~chunky/wheelpics/

NO RUBBING with the 225/50/15. woot. i'm at stock ride hieght right now, but I don't expect the modest 1.3" drop i have planned to affect the rubbing. The wheels do have a +37 offset which helps prevent any rubbing.

tires are much wider, can't really say on the grip just yet as the roads are cold and wet.

tires weighed in at 33.48lb inflated. the stock tires were 35.20 inflated, and completely bald. With full tread, stock tires would easily be 3-5lb heavier. Not bad, went to a wider wheel, much wider rubber, and still saved weight.

mods: please leave this thread in this forum for a day or two, as there were quite a few folks asking about offset/max tire size.

do you think 225/55/16s would be an issue? I know that 215/55/16 is fine --- whats your guess?? I think they'll fit ---

How long did your stock tires last?

they'll probably fit.

but 225/55/16 is going to change the overall wheel/tire diameter quite a bit - over an inch in overall wheel/tire diameter from stock (25.7" v.s. 24.2" for stock)

You'd want the 225/50/16 (24.9") or 225/45/16. preferably the 225/45/16 (23.9")

they hit the wear markers at 24,000 miles, and i eeked another 6000 miles out of them to make 30,000 miles(i like to live dangerously).

With more conservative driving, they woulda lasted maybe 40,000 or even 50,000 miles. But these tires saw 5 auto-x sessions, 3 trips to the dragstrip, and in general got the shit driven out of them.

When you get a chance, I'd love to see some full-car shots with the SL's too.
(BTW that's a real nice pic in the parent directory there, chunky. ;) )

That's a sick set up. I love the leggras. I think it'll look great after your planned drop.

Please post a whole car pic when you get a chance.

:(

There's a reason for that actually.

it's kind of shameful really.

Tirerack only had two, 2, of the 15x7 superleggeras in stock. My stock tires are on the verge of showing cords. . . so i went ahead and ordered two. So that's how I became a stunna. The other two will ship as soon as tirerack gets them back in stock, or i may just pay 100$ more and get them from this other place, but i'd really rather not. =\

H&R sport springs will be ordered as soon as my next check clears. once I get those on, and the other two wheels, then I'll give estella a bath and take some pics.

But i was just so damned excited to have the front two wheels in. She's an oversteering bitch now though. It's rainy and nasty here so no chance of any fun just yet.

ho-lee-shit

Today the roads dried out, and I've clocked about 180 miles on the tires (i drove all over town x2 today).

There is an improvement in acceleration when the tires are already hooked up. Partially b/c of the lighter weight, and partially b/c of the reduced wheel/tire diameter. but the car just seems to get up to speed a good bit quicker. Maybe my bald tires were just slipping that badly. =\

But the amazing thing is launching with these bad boys, I can dump the clutch at 3000rpm, and break the tires ever so slightly loose, then I just feather the throttle till I get traction and then WOT. At the track I have a feeling i'm gonna be launching at 4000-5000rpm now. :D I know it'll improve quite a bit on the current best of 15.7

Braking performance is AWESOME. It's pretty damned hard to trip the abs now. Anything less than a panic stop won't trip the abs whereas the abs used to trip regularly during hard stops.

The rims get a 10 out of 10. They're perfect in my opinion. killer looks, light weight, and not that common.

The jury is still out on the tires till I auto-x them, but they're already the grippiest tire combo i've driven on simply b/c of the width. Never had 225's on a honda before. :D And any k series motor needs it in my opinion. This wheel/tire combo is what the car should have come with from the factory.
