Here is my unfinished JDM tail light How-To. I still have to explain all the wiring, different variations and looks you can go with.

now that my car is all together I don't want to take it apart to take pics, but BlackJDMep is stopping by on thrusday so I can do his, I'll get more pics then.

The wiring part is confusing and messy so I'm trying to sort it all out so it'll be simple to understand.

Great job so far... How about some socket part info (brand/part#) to go with that pending wiring info?

I'm in South Orange County, Mission Viejo area... Close enough to be a donor? How long would it take to do the work? I need to check my weekend schedule...

BlackJDMep is coming by on thursday or friday. Mission Viejo is kinda far, about 1.5 hrs away from me; I'm just north of Hollywood.

BUT! if your willing to drive up here I have no prob. helping you with this simple mod.;)

how can i switch the running/brake lights and the turn signal lights? i want the top lights to be the running and brake and i want the bottom one to be the turn signal. how do i mess with the wiring? one had 3 and the other has 2 which we obviously know and the plugs aren't the same size. will you cover this in your how to some more? sorry for the barrage of questions. i'm not good with electrical.:(

yeah I'll cover all of it.

basically, I dont know if the top can be brake/running only because you have to use the small socket(wedge type). You can make it your brake or running, but not both. The reason the bottom has three wires if 1-Ground, 2-Brake, 3-Running. The bulb itself has two coils in it, one 5w(running) and one 21w(brake). The upper wedge type of bulb only has two wires - green(+) and black(-) so the bulb only has one 21w coil. If you wire it to be a running light, then it'll be a 21w running which will look like your constantly braking.

HTH, unless I just confused you even more;) :D

oh, for my car I used the exact same socket as the brake light. I don't have the part # but if you go to the dealer to buy one it's going to be $6-$9 each.

For Rocky's car, we picked up a pair of 1157 bulbs(two coils) for 1.99 and some GM sockets that were $7 each.
